I took the class with him in Fall of 1993 and the concepts I learned with him have helped me since. Infact, I even remember exact pharases from his lectures and often find myself repeating these under my breath when applying any, inc the swears :o) I also like the fact that he wasn't big on syntax but more so on concepts. Those of us in the honor's program were constantly challenged by him. He is also responsible for curriculum development for alt courses taught in the college. All in all, he's an extremly interesting teacher and can hold the class' attention.

Excellent overall, but spends too long on some topics.

An interesting guy, but he covers material much to slowly for my taste - he generally introduced one new concept a week when the class could have easily handled two concepts at the level of detail he was covering them. He's one of the more amusing professors I've had; he sometimes swears in class and has come up with some interesting examples. The midterm he gave us was too long, but I think part of that was that he recently switched from having two 100-minute classes per week to three 65-minute classes per week. Also, allowed late homework with little penalty. My one major problem is that he let the other professor that teaches the class write some of the assignments, and she can be very hard to understand.
