Brutally honest, but in a constructive way. If your feelings are hurt, take that and use it. Life is a challenge and his classes are preparation for life. There is no better deal for your money in higher education. He's personable and has a good sense of humor. He is always there for students, whether to listen or to help, even with stuff unrelated to class. He's there for you.

Horrible teacher, Hateful person

I had this class with this person during a difficult time in my life, in the Spring of 1994. I JUST NOW found this site where you could rate teachers, and since I never forgot how I was treated I decided to warn others about this person. I see that she is STILL at the school.
My mother was dying, I had three classes, two jobs, and I wanted to get an Incomplete. My mother was not that bad at the beginning of the semester, but after a while she started to go downhill very fast. Hunt told me that she "does not give incompletes." She also implied on a regular basis that that I was cheating somehow or BUYING papers when I most certainly was not.
One day, without any warning, she asked me to tell everyone in front of the class how I came up on this topic of my paper, and what inspired it., and how I researched it. SHe thought that she was going to embarrass me - But I HAD written that paper. So I told her everything! I went thru it step by step. I even had all the research and notes WITH ME at the time.

Then she kept having me do more and more rewrites on papers when she knew my mother was dying. The class ended APril 30, and my mother died on May 11th. THis school was 45 minutes away from me on a GOOD traffic day. When I could have gotten an Incomplete, and been able to spend time with my mother I was instead 50 miles away rewriting paper after paper after paper.
I re wrote one ELEVEN TIMES and this was after I had had FOUR OTHER English Faculty memebers proof it for me in the writing center. Other students told me that on days I was absent from the class, she would make comments about how I was not there that day and I must be with my "sick" mother. I think that if she believed my mother was sick she just wanted to make my life hell ANYWAY. OR perhaps she did not believe me.

I had tested out of Composition I with an A.

After my mother died I wanted to send her a copy of the death certificate. I was going to talk to the Dean of the Deptartment about her, as many others had, but I was mourning the death of my mother, and after this all happened I just could NOT be bothered.

Suuposedly "Dr." Hunt has a doctorate in English, or soemthing, but it is not. clearwhat or from where. What IS clear is that this professor is a combative, horrible teacher, and a person that clearly is just full of hate. I would advise NO ONE to take her class, EVER.
