Granted he is very intelligent, but comes across as a jerk a lot of the time. He is a lot of bark without a whole lot of bite. He talks as if his class and tests are very difficult, but really if you take his dictated notes and pay decent attention the tests are pretty easy. They are multiple choice and a few easy. They come straight from the notes, and the essays are exactly like the homework problems. He doesn't like the idea of helping students outside of class: he allows no phone calls or emails. This might be ok somewhere other than UMSL, but since UMSL is a commuter college, it's hard to go to his two office hours of the week!

What a joke...

Bird is the worst teacher that I have ever had in my 6 years of college experience at 2 different Universities.

He is the biggest reason that tenure is a joke, the students are stuck taking him since he is the only one who teaches a least 1 MIS class...

Not only is his teaching METHODS poor, but the subject matter which he chooses to emphasize is well out of date. Combine that with the fact that it is obivious that he hasn't prepared for class ahead of time as he fumbles on the PC . This class would be laughable if it wasn't required for graduation and only taught by him.

Interesting course!

Tough! Those who can't, teach." He is rude, insults students openly in his classroom, plays favorites, and his grading is biased. He is threatened by intelligent students, and retaliates by playing with their grades. Due to his behavior in the classroom, he is no longer eligible to teach UMSL classes offered at the St. Charles County Community College. Do yourself a big favor, and avoid this class if at all possible by taking another professor.

Dr. Granger is a really nice and creative professor. But it is
very hard to follow along in his class. His teaching style is very
confusing. It seems like he thinks we all remember everything we learned in
high school biology. And the results of the test is a prime example of how
much we are learning and understanding this course. When alot of the
students leave the classroom we feel very confused and lost. And I really
don't see why he can't just teach from the book and maybe a few of his
personal notes but he should not revolve the whole teaching experience
around his personal notes. I think if he does this then just maybe a large
majority of us would feel more confident about the class and actually pass
the test as well as the class.
