However, his lack of assertiveness in class and his accent makes his lectures tough to follow. Mr. Ju teaches the class almost apologetically which surprises me because he know his stuff! By the clockwork, she covers example questions and whatever else is asked of her. Sometimes she skips steps when solving problems which can frustrate students who lag behind, but she is always willing to slow or repeat anything asked. She does not allow calculators on tests which can be unsettling at first but this tough love approach reinforces concepts better. Her tests are concise, and honest. No trick questions from her! He regularly denounces the usefullness of the book, despite the fact that he chose the text and seems more concerned with staying on schedule than acutally teaching the material. The entire course grade consists of 2 extremely confusing multiple choice tests thats designed to confuse a student. She makes students feel uncomfortable to ask questions, she doesnt answer the question right, or she says dont worry about that problem wont be on the exam. She makes her exams very confusing, and not clear. And she marks you off even you gave her the right answer on the exam. She is very unorganized and confused on the subject. His lecture are dry. He just grab diagrams from the text and elaborate it. You don't even have to come to class if you read the text and understand it thoroughly. Advice: study the terms. The book is pricey. His test are not too difficult. Most of his questions comes from the text. He'll tell you what will be on the text the previous class meeting. He'll even review some of the questions on the exam. Read the text and study the terms and you'll do fine. Grades are determine best out of three mid and a final. Essentially 200 pts. Best of two mid worth 50pts and the final 100 pts. Fair teacher, you won't learn that much.

ZzzzZZZs...

*Yawn*...OMG this guy...can you be any more dull than this? Coming to his class is a drag. The guy lecture on the boringest information. It's a history class within a history class. No it can't get more boring! If you think his lecture is boring try reading the text. The text is written in essay format by labor theorists who uses labor terms that is very difficult to understand. You literally have to be taking notes as you are reading to understand the material. Grading...two exams a mid and a final. All essay format. Pick 3 out of 4 questions. Two from the lecture and two from the text. His questions are off the wall. It's so broad you don't know where to start. His lecture doesn't help either. None of his question were found on my notes that I've taken. The reading is difficult as it is and he expects you to know your readings by heart. His lecture is very intriguing and it will keep you up throughout the class. He definetly knows his stuff and can be somewhat intimidating. This leads right to his problems: Very tough grader...there is only one and only one answer that is correct, which is his!, Long assigment...his assignments takes forever to complete sometimes takes you days you definetly need TIME to take his class, No slacking off...you can't miss class or else you be missing very valuable information, Lots and Lots of reading...don't be fooled by the no text book policy yeah you save a few bucks on textbook but eventually you be spending it on printing out HIS text online, did i mention a lot of reading about 15 articles of reading ranging from 6-20 pages long, Exam and testing style...his testing style is very different no multiple choice all essay format and the final is the oral presentation. Don't get me wrong here Doc is a great teacher and he makes you learn. He stuff the information down your throat thats if you want to swallow and pass his class. Take Doc if you want to LEARN and have a lot of free time on your hands. Don't take him if you want a good gpa your probably not going to get a good grade from him, want to slack off, don't have TIME, cruise through school, etc. Lastly, never expect Doc to complement your work...if you think you are right you better be ready to prove it.

"The World's Worst Teacher"

Doc Waters is the worst teacher I've had at Cal State Hayward. He considers himself to be an intelligent man who is above anyone else. In the beginning of class he tells everyone that in management there is no right or wrong answer. It's what you know about the concepts and how you apply them. This is exactly what he DOES NOT follow! There's one correct answer to everything - HIS ANSWER. He will review your papers ahead of time, provide little input and still throw up all over your work and fail you in the end. Instead of helping you succeed he'd rather see you flounder and fail. Dr.Waters is an unfair and unrealistic grader who also makes inappropriate comments to students. Please do not be fooled by Dr. Waters teaching ethics because he does not have any, perhaps this is why he sells his own Theories of Management manual for $10.00, for the reasons behind any discrepencies students may have, which means Dr.Waters makes it difficult to argue against his own creation of a manual versus a real text book. It is really a shame that the Dean ignores Dr.Waters ratings as it is no secret that his bad ratings out weighs the good. Perhaps the Dean and Student Affairs will see that all the students are not lying about Dr. Waters and that eventually the media will need to know about the teaching ethics Cal State Hayward allows.

You can tell he really hasn't studied the art of teaching.

His exams are horribly difficult and don't have anything to do with what he talks about in the lectures. If you take him, just read the book, he takes all questions from a test bank.

His lecturing ability is sub-par he basically just reads the power point slides to you. When confronted with a question he looks it up in the book and gives a definition. It's like he has no clue of the subject.

His personality is dull and predictable. He will lull you to sleep with his monotone voice.

The project he gave us reflect much of when he stopped studying the art of teaching. He gave us a project to complete in DOS! Some students complained because they had XP and couldn't access DOS...he didn't care.

If you want to learn nothing and get a bad-marginal grade take him.

He does grade on the curve.

The best I had in Hayward. I am an international student and struggled with my English, but with my hard wark I got 'A' from two classes of his. He emphasizes analytical and communication ability. Throughout his lectures and assignments, students really need to think hard and work diligentlly. He doesn't use multiple choice question in his exams because he thinks it is not a good measurement of students' understandings. All his assignments and exams are essay style. I am so grateful that he spends so much time and effort reading and correcting students' essays.
Definitely take Warter's class if you want to improve your thinking and communication ability.

Very cool teacher

Dr. Becky Krystyniak is the best teacher there is. He was willing to let students choose to take exams OR write a paper--whichever the student felt s/he could do best. He gave extra credit options. The material was extremely challenging, but the background it provided gave me a solid foundation for two graduate degrees in Theology, and helped immunize me against the worst aspects of trendiness in theology. Dr Bielecki had a fun sense of humor, and was truly an example of a teacher who would go the extra mile for students who expressed interest or asked for help. He really knows the material, and is humanitarian. If you have to study hard stuff, this is the teacher get.

The class mostly deals with the way society interacts with different forms of media like TV, radio, newspaper etc. Exams were all multiple choice with a few very short identifications and everything on them was covered in class. Exams consist of 2-3 essay questions and 10 short identifications. Much reading is involved in the course, but for the most part it's interesting reading. One term paper of about 6-10 pages is required on any subject you choose as long as it has to do with women in some way. Professor Pare also does her best to make things as convenient as possible for her students from extending deadlines to changing the exam format. It is very hard to get in her classes, because she is so popular that her classes get filled from the first day of registration. She brings her knowledge and experience from her previous high level jobs, to the classroom. you learn a new thing every time this instructor opens her mouth!! yup, she is that good! She treats her students like adults, very flexible, understanding, clear, yet very fair. She prepares her students to enter the business world by discussing current case analysis and by encouraging students to speak up.

All the students that take her are eager to learn from her. Although she is not tenured, she is soooo popular among students. People wait for her several quarters in order to take her classes.
There are about 2 short essay assignments, and a final, and you have to stay up to date with current events. Students think it is an easy A class because there is no right or wrong answer on the final, you basically have to state your opinion and support it with current events. Her mission is to help her students "switch on" the light or spark in their minds! She cares a great deal about her students. This teacher is highly recommended for anyone who cares to learn the real stuff not just canned knowledge from textbooks.

Except for the first couple of days, he never take attendance. Although, attendance is important in the class. Your final grade is basiclly based on the research paper. If you bum out on the research paper, then you will get a bad grade. He speaks in a soft voice and at a fast pase, so you can't understand most of the stuff. He loves to repeat himslef all the time. He also focuses on the in class presentations, which is boring, because a person would explain what they are doing for their paper in about 20-30 minutes.
