That's why I think it's hard to get an A+ from the class. If you don't go to class, the highest possible grade you can get must be a B. 10 to 15 quesions on the test will be based on the lecture. He is a nice guy and have a sense of humor.

Shovels the homework to you

Lots of papers that take up an inordinate amount of time in relation to other classes at the same level. You have to read ALOT of long, dull articles on feminism and the oppression of women and things like that. Her exams are extremely detailed and difficult, consisting of questions where you need to remember direct quotes from the articles to get the right answer. There are also a couple of papers to write. Santos is a very nice teacher and she listens and responds to complaints about the class. She involves the class in the discussions which makes the class kind of fun. She has a strong Latin American accent which makes her difficult to understand occasionally. Overall Santos is a good teacher and you will learn things from this class. Just don't expect it to be too easy, even though it's for general ed.

Avoid this teacher.

If you have any desire in learning anything from this class do not take Prof Hechler. His lectures have almost nothing to do with the material that is on the exams. They consist mainly of the book material, with the exception of a few questions derived from the lectures. He does not take role either so you don't even have to go ever, except for to the exam dates. On an average day in his class only about 1/4 of the students show up. Hechler shows an obvious dislike toward his position in teaching this class and toward life in general. It is kind of depressing. He does however have a sense of humor, and on days when he's not in a bad mood, he will tell a funny joke. Oh yeah, don't even think about going into class late or he will use you as an example to the class and make a fool out of you. Hechler is not a difficult teacher, it's just the kind of class where you feel like your wasting your money and not learning anything.

a good teacher

Overall Blackburn is a pretty hard teacher for such a basic class required of all business majors. His lectures are very similar to the test material. He emphasizes main points in the lectures to study for the exams, which is very helpful. However the tests are very hard. They consist of trick and very detailed questions. He seems to think that everyone in this class is trying to become a lawyer, and therefore these hard detailed questions about the law are helping to prepare us for the Bar exam or something. When, in reality, this class is required of all Business majors and the majority of us don't need to prepare to be lawyers. Overall however, he is a good teacher and he knows his material. You can learn alot from this class. It just won't be really easy.
