He has made his Japanese class hard beyond reason. I was marked off half a point on one of his tests because I misspelled a word....IN ENGLISH...He picks on people in class who display below average skills, and rides them for the right answer until they can finally figure out what to say. He has no sense of humor, he occasionally barks criticisms at students, and he has no discernable social skills. He tries to test people on how he questions them during lecture, so his tests are horribly difficult, and have very little to do with the actual homework given on a nightly basis. He should not be a teacher, nor involved in the education system in any way. Worst teacher ever.

Worst Proffessor I have ever had!

I would have to say that this is the worst professor I have ever had. He is pretentious, monotone, and belittling. His lectures are boring and he does not write notes for you to follow, he just sits in a chair in front of the class and lectures at a very fast though dry pace that makes it difficult to take notes. If you ask him to repeat the phrasing of a law or a point that you could not write down in time he will belittle you and say, "since he/she can not seem to keep up can anyone else repeat it for he/she?" His tests are incredibly difficult and he rarely if ever gives above a C. He says that a C shows satisfactory work and very few students prove themselves worthy of a higher grade. He also has NO email, voicemail or phone number. He feels it is not his job to be accessible to his students and it should be our job to hunt him down if necessary. He also has very limited office hours. His attendance policy is that you can be absent or late (which he does take role every day on the dot) up to 8 times and if you are absent or late one more time above that then the highest grade you can earn is a C.

If you want to fail take this class!

This class is extremely hard. And have fun too!

First I'll explain the class assignments. Five exams, which were more like quizzes: 20 questions, answer 10. Quite easy (as long as you've read fairly carefully). In other words, the testing method (no final or midterm! yay!) was great for me.
Three essays, which were not difficult, and he made himself very available to answer questions and help decide on a thesis. Second, his personality. Very fun. Does not dominate class discussions, and doesn't blather on when he does talk. He obviously loves his subject area and makes it enjoyable to hear about... Although he has a tendency to point out the stuff you didn't want to know about the texts; the "homoerotic imagery" and things of that nature. I suppose it was his job.
Overall, entertaining and interesting, and recommended as long as you don't mind reading novels that are guaranteed to end badly. The plight of an English major: no happy endings.

A good teacher

He is a humorous, well educated, warm hearted man. His tests were hard if you did not study the points he tells you to look over. It is important to go to class because a lot of his test questions come from his lectures and the readings. He gives test reviews for his tests and only has you take the final if you aren't passing the class. His homework consists of doing recreational or lisure activities that are new to you and write a short paper on them. He adds humor and activities to his lectures to make them more interesting. His test are not hard. He makes the class so most people are almost given a B if they do the work. She will doc you points if you don't come to class which really hurt some people, but she gives you options to make up those points. We had to write 4 five page papers and 2 two page papers. The papers were based on the books or movies read or watched. We also had to give two presentations. She doesn't give any test so it makes her lectures boring at times because you don't HAVE to remember the info. Her one down fall was that she did not keep us up to date on our grades. She is very educated in the information she teaches and really knows her stuff.

Easiest teacher ever

This teacher was the easiest teacher I think I have ever had. He gave us test reviews for every test in the order they appeared in the book, and for the final he gave us the questions and the answers as they appeared on the test. There was only one paper we had to write for homework which took an hour from start to finish. He even told us we did not have to do it if we did not want to, of course those who didn't do it didn't get the points and it kinda hurt their grade. He gave us plenty of extra credit options. He will let you go to his other sections if those times work out better for you and told us the first day of class that attendance was optional. I learned in the class by studying the questions and answers for the tests.

Easy but kinda boring

Her class lectures were pretty boring. Besides being fairly interesting, Family Finance is a good subject to learn and it will actually help you out in your life. It is something that you will end up using every day. The boring parts of the class are made up for by Dr. Andersen's personality. He tries to keep the class pretty upbeat and he likes to crack jokes occasionally which is good to keep you awake and interested. It is nice that he doesn't have to be serious all the time, but you can still learn something in the the class. He doesn't get too off-topic. He is very prepared for the class too which is nice--no wasted time getting everything set up. He keeps the class going at a good pace, not too fast so that you don't understand it but not so slow it gets boring a lot. I would definately recommend taking a class from Dr. Andersen!

A teacher that knows wat he is talking about!

Prof.Kimenyi is a little hard to understand, but you start picking up on the way he describes things. Professor Kimenyi is from Rwanda, so he knows first hand what goes on in Africa and describes first hand accounts of the culture there. If you want to know the truth about Africa, take this class. There is a project at the end of the semester that is not too hard. I recommend sitting in the front for his lectures because he doesn't have a loud voice and he doesn't pronounce some words very well. If you're patient, you'll be fine.
