They are pretty difficult because he believes that examinations should be learning experiences, and I think he succeeds in that goal. That said, his grading system is very reasonable. Most people get A's and B's; you have to do pretty poorly to get a C.

He's very enthusiastic about math, and he always seems to be in a good mood. His lectures are good, but he sometimes speaks somewhat hesitatingly. But that is only a minor quibble.

He has reasonable expectations, but his lectures are sometimes tedious.

The exams and homeworks were all straight-forward. My only issue with the exams is that some things on them would seem too easy, leaving me worried that I made a mistake. The lectures consist mainly of Professor Reyes copying a lot of definitions and example problems from his notes onto the board. He speaks a little too quietly, but it's not a big problem since he writes most of what he says on the board. The class can get somewhat boring due to repetitive examples.

Avoid this man!

I attended every lecture, and I learned absolutely nothing from Dr. Landes. Fortunately, the textbook is well-written, so I learned everything in Calc IV by reading the textbook. He has a fairly thick German accent, but it's really not a problem. He's just a terrible teacher. He tries to teach many of the concepts of multi-variable calculus using complicated concepts from courses beyond calculus and complicates simple ideas. In a class of about 30 students, there were usually less than 10 students in the class except on days where we had homework due or a test to take.
The homework is just questions from the textbook, so it was usually not very difficult. The test questions were similar to those on review problem sheets he gave us before tests. And because of his grading scale, it's nearly impossible to earn anything lower than a C on his tests or as an overall grade. He seems like a decent guy, but he's not a good Calc IV teacher. I earned an A in this class, but I wouldn't recommend Dr. Landes.

Unique and Wonderful

Dr. Watson has such an infectious enthusiasm for Native American art -- she's an incredible asset to the University. It's a rare opportunity to be able to study exclusively Native American women artists, especially beadworkers, basketweavers, etc. as these particular artists are often completely overlooked in other art classes. It's important that Dr. Watson personally knows many of the artists she discusses and teaches from a Native American perspective. A great thing about this class is all the field trips - visiting area galleries and museums and meeting artists directly.

Great Teacher, but Take Seriously

Becuase this class is required, I thought it might be a fluff class, but was surprised by the amount of information divulgled. Professor Caldwell is very knowledgable and excited about her subject. She speaks REALLY quickly, which might make notetaking difficult, but a saving grace is the reviews before tests. The tests require competent writing skills. Also, he seemed slightly unprepared when class began, forgetting the syllabus and not doing a good job at explaning his terminology. The tests are very fair, as are his review sheets. This guy has no clue about the concepts he is talking about, other than what he brings in on scrap paper that he wrote the night before. He has no organizational skills and zero structure to his lectures. Exams are impossible curiosities that do not even relate to the material discussed. He paces back and forth across the room thinking of what insignificant blabs he can make to sound authorative. He even criticizes the 'stupidity' of his own exam questions.
