She gave a quiz a week, two homework assignments per week and three exams total. It would not be so bad, but she never gave a grade plan until after the semester. She warned the students on the first day that out of the class of thirty plus students that only three or four will get A's (her GA's and RA's ironically), a third will get B's, and a third will get C's (you were only allowed one C on your grad record), and the rest will get D's or F's (thus getting throw out of the program). She said the university admitted too many dead weight grad students, and she appointed herself as the one to weed out the bad ones. She spent most of her time talking about her life as a failed psychologist then teaching and how she hated being reduced to a teacher. She even named dropped the people she thought put her in that position. I dropped the class and filled a complaint with the university and the university just swept it under the rug. Just do not take her classes.

Even though I am a Spanish major, Dr. Magrans teaches Spanish on a level where even the most linguistically challenged could easily get an A. If you do not like to speak in front of a class, you need to get over it, because he stresses oral communication.

Definitely worth taking!

Dr. Bekus is excellent! If you have any type of writing skills, you should do extremely well in his class. His lectures are like listening to a story. He likes to give pop quizzes, but they are simple if you did the assigned reading. (Ex: What was in Oddysseus bedroom? Ans: A tree) They are usually one question. His exams are usually a couple of questions from which you get to choose whch ones to write on.
