She did a magnificent job teaching this course as she does so many others. She was a wonderful speaker and never talked down to you as a student but rather as an equal. She did not lecture, however every class period was an open forum as to the material we were covering, therefore, we ran the class and she was there for the structure aspect. She ran a very democratic classroom and did a wonderful job this year helping us realize key concepts.

Highly Recommended

Davida did a greate job of teaching real-world skills regarding software development. His lectures are rich with real world events relating to software development and other details which bring this course to life. In addition, he designed the course around a software project that the student must design and implement. Students eventually must display the software in a demo and development update speech. This is the bread and butter of software development and thus will greatly help us in the real-world. The only improvements I could offer would be a slightly more structured lecture format to include a bit more information from the book. Also, more projects for the Windows platform would be nice since most individuals have Windows at home (most projects are for FreeBSD). Overall, I certainly recommend this professor and hope to have the opportunity to take a course with him again.

Highly recommended

Mohamed did an excellent job in progressing through the material at a reasonable pace while taking the time to enusre the concepts got through to his students. His explanations are clear, complete and thoughtfully described. The result is a sense of accomplishment by truly understanding C++ well enough to implement it in real world application. His work in designing CS252 shows through, I highly recommend him and this course.

More effort is required

Jayson Rock made me very enthusiastic on the first day of class by beginning to remove an abstraction that I had previously never considered. However, things spiraled down quickly after this point. This instructor seems to lack organizational skills and a clear design for this course. His lectures appear to be very ad-hoc, often missing information that we are later tested on. This makes the exams a free-for-all, that is, any question could be asked regardless of whether those concepts relating to it have been taught or not. I consistently struggled through this course and was always worried that I was going to fail. In the end I received a B+. I do not think it is unreasonable to have an estimation of my grade during the course(I should not have to be worried about passing when it turns out I am almost at an A). Unfortunately, he is only one who currently teaches this course and the operating systems class. Otherwise, avoid him.

Good teacher, fun course

Professor Suzuki is a good teacher, and the course can be a lot of fun. While there is a lot of programming involved, he really does give you all of the concepts necessary to make some really neat graphics programs. This may be one of the few times you get a chance to learn a lot of theory and then apply it and see the result. He's also good at being responsive to student questions I really enjoyed this course.

Awesome lecturer...learned a lot

Professor Wood was a really fabulous teacher. The material was extremely hard, but he really explains the concepts exceptionally well. I knew second semester physics would be hard, but he made it really, really interesting. The class is really well-organized, his lectures are clear, and his diagrams really helpful. This class is a lot of work, but all of the work is really relevant to what you're learning. I definitely found physics to be a lot cooler after I took this class.

Nice guy, but I learned nothing.

Professor Hosseini is a NICE GUY. He really is a very nice man.

I walked out of this class, though, knowing almost nothing about computer networks. His lectures were extremely hard-to-follow, and often he would answer different questions than the ones asked. He taught out of two different books, although mostly out of the book we didn't buy. I probably spent $80 on making photocopies of the book he DID decide to use and placed chapters of in the library. No one knew what to expect around exam time, and homework questions were confusing and drawn from many different sources, some of which I'm still not sure we ever had access to. It was haphazard, and I think we spent more than the first half of the course talking about one layer of a 7-layer model. It was really nightmarish. Understanding of various concepts was often expected to come from a handout of a partial chapter from some random networks book. Better organization would have made all of the difference in this course.

I like Dr. Hosseini, I just don't like the fact that I've had to play serious catchup in the real world because my networks course in college was so bad.

Fantastic teacher!

Professor Beder is an absolutely fantastic teacher. I went into his course terrified of having to study math again, and came out really loving the subject (enough so that I ended up taking a minor in math later on!). He really provided me with a good basis for understanding math, and taught me a lot about problem-solving. I found him very easy to talk to about problems I was having with the material, and really feel that I learned an incredible amount from taking his course. He lectures very clearly, and is very engaging. I'm sorry I didn't have a chance to take more courses from him!

Get him if you can!

Carl Hedman is a fabulous teacher, and a great guy. He really teaches you to think and makes ethics really fun and fascinating.

He's a pretty easy grader, but then, that isn't what matters anyway. Right?
