Dave is a friendly, easygoing person; it's hard not to like him. His lectures are on the whole very interesting, as he brings in material from his experiences abroad (he's very well traveled) and general errata he comes across (i.e. maggot therapy). His labs sessions are generally loosely structured (but in a good way); he has the occasional demonstration, but afterwards he turns one loose to study at one's own pace (hence the lab being loosely structured). In regards to academics, Dave's tests aren't hard, provided one has read the material and attended class regularly. He also posts copies of prior year's lecture exams in the library, to give his students something to study with. The lab exams are also not that bad; it should be noted however that he only writes half the exam, and the remainder is written by another instructor (two professors teach the 202/203 sequence at UW-W). Lest you be worried, there are (well, should be) no surprises on these exams, as both instructors cover the same material. Dave's only drawback is his handwriting, which is a loose cursive style. Most of the time one can make out what he writes down, however there have been occasions when I've had to ask about something. Incidentally, Dave's a huge movie buff, so if you enjoy such things he's the man to talk to (ask to see his movie review list sometime). All in all, Dave Skryja is an excellent professor and I would highly recommend enrolling in his classes.
