Dr. Self gives a great overview for students that do not know anything about law. The cases and information studied are great for people majoring in communications. This course teaches students what can and can not be publised in society. It is easy, but you have to study. He gives great opportunities to do extra credit. He has a great sense of humor and everyone usually enjoys his classes.

Horrible Teacher

This is not a teacher. He reads from slides that he downloaded from the textbooks site. He is not have any depth to his technology knowledge. Good luck getting any assistance from him because if the software you are using doesn't have a Wizard, he doesn't know. The sad thing is most professors in the IS department have a lack of any real knowledge. So my best advice is to stay clear of the Management or IS program at UAB entirely. Go spend the $20,000 on a new car or something.

A great teacher

Veronica is a great teacher for this class! The class lectures are open to discussion so its not just a boring listen to the prof for 2 hours and go home kindof class. There is a big group project that you have all term to work on. Its a 15-30 minute oral and 5-7 page writtem project. Its not that bad thought, you are put in groups of 5 and you divide the work up. Be sure to pick a subject that can be divided into different areas so you can all talk about something different. Have fun!!!

Good prof for this dreaded class

She is a pretty good prof for this class. Just dont get on her bad side. Do not take this class if you take your pager or cell phone to class, she will toss you if it goes off during a speech. One guy got tossed during the final week and missed his final speech and had to retake the class. Overall, she is a good teacher. Exams take a while but they are not that hard if you pay attention to her lectures.

A great Prof!!!

Dr. Self is a great prof. He gives lots of opportunities for extra credit. The tests are not that hard, usally multiple choice with a few short answers. There are a few homework assignments but nothing to worry about. He has a pretty good sense of humor, better than most at UAB. It is a pretty fun class to take. One of the best profs I have had so far, and I have been here a while!!!

A good Prof!!

Dr. Neiva is an extremely funny prof. If profanity offends you, find another instructor. But if you can handle his sense of humor, you will enjoy the class. The class by itself would be a snoozer but he makes it as fun as communications can be. He uses good examples to make the material relate to life. Exams are essay, but not to difficult with avg. studying.

Best professor at UAB.

I've had Dr. Pence for several classes, and he is probably one of the best professors at UAB. If you have an opportunity to take something from him, DO SO IMMEDIATELY AND WITHOUT QUESTION. Especially if you can get in his "Philosophy of Religion" class--you'll learn more than you ever thought possible...
