Her tests include extra credit, but watch out, if you get them wrong, it counts against you. She made the class discussions more enticing than the previous literature class I had taken, and she was always open to any topic that was related to the class readings. The class was a free thinking lecture than the typical talking head. Dr. Cobb's exams and quizzes allowed the students to read the material assigned which made it possible to make a good grade in her class, and it exposed me to literature I would not have even thought of laying my eyes on: Steinbeck, Wharton, Faulkner, and numerous others. She gave each student a chance to pass her class as long as he or she made an effort in doing the necessary work. I really enjoyed Dr. Cobb's American Literature class and I recommend this class to anyone who likes literature because she definitely knows her literature. Her class was very valuable in analyzing the the readings and how they relate to everyday life. The number one element that most students do not understand about his class is that you have to read the material from the textbook, and that taking class notes are not enough. As long as you listen in class and do the review sheets that Professor Thompke hands out, you will do fine. Also he's good at extra credit.
