I read dude's review below. I almost didn't take this class. Hello. This was a good class. I learned a lot. I think he took a class where she wasn't the main professor. He's also probably some old guy who is upset she's younger.

A true scholar, in every sense of the word

Professor Muller is a true scholar. A previous reviewer stated that he "shines with intelligence". I concur with that statement wholeheartedly. This man knows his discipline. He specializes in political philosophy and statesmanship, and is one of perhaps the top five Churchill scholars in the world (literally). He is passionate about political science, and his lectures are top notch. You WILL learn in his classes.

This also means, however, that you will be expected to perform at a level commensurate with college-level work. Don't expect a cakewalk. In his Introduction to Political Philosophy class, for instance, our midterm exam was based on almost 1,500 pages of reading. The workload is NOT light. The previous reviewer also mentioned feeling rushed on the exams. Again, I would agree. Still, if you truly want to learn, this is the man at whose knee you should do it.

Professor Muller is a Harvard-educated scholar, a great teacher, and by far the cream of the crop in the UAA Political Science department. If you're willing to work hard, you can't go wrong with this choice of instructor.

Great teacher - but she's tough

Joy brings years of television and radio news experience to the classroom. It's nice to have an instructor who knows what she's talking about. Her approach is tough with her students, but she's fair and the class is better for it. She's always willing to go the extra mile for her students. This is a great class. You can tell she knows what she's doing. The group presentations, especially, make this class worth taking.

If you REALLY like multiple-choice questions...

Me: One semester from graduation...needed Anth250 as a general elective.
Dr. Hanson seems like a nice and very knowledgeable professor, but she needs to take a course in how to write test questions. Her tests were largely multiple-choice, and long...75-150 questions. Many questions seemed to have more then one possible answer or were simply poorly worded to begin with. She was much easier on the few essay questions, essentially giving at least partial credit just for saying something, whether it was right or wrong.
The average grade of the class at the end of the semester was 69%, which reflects the ambiguity of many of her test questions and/or her lack of focusing the class lectures on what she apparently wanted us to learn. For a lower level class, the average grade should have been at least a mid-C, if not better.
Overall, I think Hanson is a good Anthropologist, and is probably good at upper-division teaching. However, her lectures for this class tended to be disorganized and incomplete, some nights it was obvious she just didn't want to be there, and on more then one occasion we watched videos that even she hadn't seen yet, and which weren't always particularly relevant to anything. If you're an ANTH major, you'll probably love her class (or learn to, since you'll be stuck with her for a few years), but if you're taking ANTH 250 as a General Elective, I'd try to find a different instructor or a different elective.

Blows into class whimsically.

Prof. Forster is a poet, and this colors her views on literature. She sees texts through a poet's eyes. Still, she is fun to listen to and to learn a work's meaning from. Not that she teaches poorly, but I think she would be more in her element in her poetry class.

The best teacher

Mr. Howard is definitely the best teacher in the MIS department. It is in his classes where you would learn the tools you need to know if you want to become a programmer. His classes prepare you for the real world work environment. Yes, his classes are hard, but you will thank him later, when you are working in a real programming position. Everything he is teaching is very valuable.

And as far as helping his students, he is the best. He will spend time with his students, explain everything, help his students. He will do anything he can to help you out.

Mr. Howard, THANK YOU

Let her get some years under her belt.

Joy is just beginning to teach, and as a result is a bit stilted with the students.
