The University of Louisville is giving itself a bad name by not firing this person. A mean and cruel spirited person. She is a threat to any student who wants to make a positive difference in the world.

An unbelievable experience...

What can you say? The instructor has problems speaking and writing the English language but still manages to grade grammar in assignments.

Here is an item-by-item review of this instructor:

Exams: With no productive learning time in class and an instructor whose lectures make no sense how can a student be prepared? The tests are confusing, too long and the scoring on the exams is amazing. With Dr. Lea's grading structure you can actually get a negative score on an exam.

Homework: This is another exercise in futility. When a homework assignment is given out the instructor usually says something like, "This should only take you X number of hours". Take that number and multiply by two for the time to complete the assignment. Then add the same amount of time again for attempting to decipher her instructions and meet the criteria outlined in the instructions. You should also completely disregard the point values assigned for the various sections. Points are deducted without any reference to the assigned values.

Lectures: With little grasp of the written and spoken language how can a lecture be effective? The instructor was providing fairly decipherable powerpoint presentations. She then decided that students were not doing very well in the class because they were not taking good notes. To fix this she decided to stop making the powerpoint presentations available. The problem is that she moves so quickly that you cannot possibly keep up. This is yet another example of actions on her part that makes learning almost impossible.

Outside Class Availability: There isn't much to say here. She has office and online hours. The problem is that no one wants to see her because you will undoubtedly be told that you are wrong with whatever you attempt to discuss with her. There really is no point to her office and online hours.

Personality: The only reason this is not an "F" is because she seems to be calming down some (the semester is almost over). Generally you can expect that when you question the professor on anything you will be told that you are wrong. You will not be told why or allowed to discuss her statement that you are wrong. It is simply a fact to her.

Speaking Skills: With a poor grasp of the spoken English language you are sometimes left wondering. A few times I have actually left class wondering what she had been saying the entire class. The only good thing is that since it is almost pointless to listen to her anyway I rarely come out any worse when there are particular words that I cannot understand.

Overall: If you are a CIS major you are stuck taking this class. Hopefully this, and other contructive criticism, will make sure she is not there to torture you.

It is amazing to me that she is stilll a professor at the University and that the University of Louisville adminsitration has not stepped in to change this wrong.

We, as students in this class, are not receiving an education in the subject but rather an education in how our school is lacking in educational talent.

I need to add something very important. The opinions expressed in this review are NOT intended to reflect at all on Dr. Andrew Wright. He is a co-instructor in this course. His teaching style is completely different from Dr. Lea's and I feel that I have learned much, much more than I have with Dr. Lea.

Her lectures are thought provoking and interesting. Her exams are hard but only on material that was covered in class. You cover a lot of ground in her class and are exposed to a wide vareity of information in and around the subject. Expect to be challenged and to learn something. We had a lot of good discussions in our class. I feel like she only tested us on things we covered in class and that we had gone over specifically. She was more interested that we learned the material than if she were smarter than we were. I thought she was very approachable and easy to work with.

Wait until he teaches the class before you sign up for it.

Incredibly creative and inspiring teacher.
