She was knowledgeable and she made her classes/lectures interesting. Best part, because I received an A on all the written assignments, I was given the option whether or not I wanted to take my final exam. Of course, I chose not to. Great job Sally. Keep up the good work!

An egotistical, disrepectful teacher

Mr. Gregg changed handed out a review sheet for every exam, and then changed it the class before the exam - for each and every exam. He handed out a departmental final review and "forgot" to hand out his own review until the day before the exam at an optional class session. His exams are harder than any of the homework assignments and he is very stingy with any kind of partial credit. He is also not consistant. An algebraic mistake could cost one student 5 points and another only 2 points, and he will not ammend the scores. He notes are clear and concise, but he is not open to discussion and very often ridicules the students. He is open to questions, don't get me wrong, but if he feels your question was previously explained, or if you still don't understand after his explaination, he will humiliate you in class. If he has no one in class to humiliate, he will regale you with stories of previous students and the stupid things they did. I would not suggest that any experienced/non-traditional students take Mr. Gregg's classes. He infuses his lectures with his personal opinions about why students are stupid. He showed no repect for any students in the class. He changed his policy on the use of calculator less than one week before the final which left me scrambling to get, and learn to use, a new calculator. He taught an evening class, with primarily adult students, and his office hours were mid-day. He refused to answer questions during the mid-class break and became openly hostile if you stopped him then. I don't feel he is a reasonable man. He played favorites and didn't bother to hide it. I would NOT recommend him.

If you want to learn Caculus like the back of your hand, this is the man!

I left Highschool with Cakculus 1 and decided to retake it at MC. I had a not so great teacher however and earned a B.. altho my understanding wasn't the best. A friend recomended that if I wanted to understand it to take this class with Prof (Mr. Wheeler) and I did. I must say I have never had such a great teacher! He is articulate, funny, and is down to earth. He understands that you have a busy life sometimes and will actually be willing to compromise with you which is highly rare! His teaching style is EXCEPTIONAL however! I learned soo much from this man. In fact I was very shy about speaking because I thought I could be wrong and I didn;t want to look stupid, but by the end of the course that had changed. He picks on people to show them that they have talent and can do well. He has EVERYONE participate which is great! Then one flaw was that on the homework he didnt always assign exact numbers to do... but as I think about it that was good because you had to take a little bit of initiative to look over the book. If you are going to take Calculus 2 or any math course I HIGHLY recomend him. You will leave the class with a knowledge of the material, one that you wouldn't think you could obtain.

Again he isn't a teacher to get an easy grade with, but you can be assured that if you put in 1/10 of the time he puts into you, you will leave that class knowing everything possible about the subject! Sadly he may retire soon so I recomend taking him while you can, his classes fill up extremely quickly because everyone knows that if you want to learn and understand math to take him. If you listen to his lectures and seriously spend 1/10 of the time he spends on you, you will get a grade that you can be happy with. This has got to be the BEST teacher in mathmatics and well any subject I have ever HAD!

An awesome teacher!!!!

He is a wonderful and the best math teacher i ever had at Montgomery College!!! He gives out perfect notes to the students, with clear hand writing, and also explains each and every thing that is put on the board. I took his class for two semesers. I also wanted the same teacher for my further classes, but unfortunately he didn't have the oppurtunity to teach them :(. He gives very good tests (they are a little hard), but after the teaching that he gives, the tests seem very easy. He hepled me to have a good math base (i mean Calculus I and Calculus II are the basic levels of math) for my further engineering classes. He covers all the material thorughy. He is available outside the class if you have doubhts, and he also discusses the problems that the students have in the class.

Sonnabend, YOU ARE THE MAN!!

This man is a GOD!! He's very knowledgeable when it comes to calculus. I never knew calculus could be so simple! Calculus is a very difficult subject to teach. It takes lots of practice and skill to be able to teach calculus in such a way that everyone gets it. He is great! He even helped me to understand some things that I didn't get in Calc 1. Any instructor can thoroughly understand calculus, but not everyone can teach it. This man loves what he does and he does it very well. He even made himself available before all exams, even final exams.
Sir, if you read this, keep up the good work. YOU ARE THE MAN!!! All instructors should care as much for their students as you do. Sorry I overloaded myself that semester and was unable to work harder for you. My final grade is not a reflection of your teaching ability, but my inability to balance my work load.

One of the best teachers ever

nathan starr of the sociology department at montgomery college is an outstanding teacher. he was able to communicate on a level so easily understood. he was prepared and his lectures were always worthwhile. i took all the classes i could with him before i transferred.

The best math teacher I've ever had!

Professor Wheeler achieves the task of making a difficult subject approachable. He is direct and on-topic without being complicated, and always strives to engage his students to be participants in their own learning process. His balanced approach stresses the many ways that mathematics problems can be addressed and their results interpreted. I would highly recommend him as an instructor.

Great teacher for a difficult class

Professor Wheeler is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Most importantly, he is very approachable. I felt that his door was always open to his students. His teaching style is clear. Professor Wheeler has also made a difficult subject a little easier. You gotta know when to get out of Dodge! I felt right away that this guy didn't seem to care much about giving the students a quality educational experience. His lecture was rushed over and he was obviously unprepared. He lectured from the overhead the entire class period--1 hour and 15 minutes. (Just try looking at a bright screen for that long! It hurt my eyes!) Sometimes he would alter his stance at the overhead and teach sitting at a desk in a remote corner of the room. His presentation and teaching skills were all together horrendous, and I got the feeling he was just trying to collect his $200 and pass go.

Simply the BEST!!!

Prof. Aleccia is the most wonderful professor I have encountered at Montgomery College. Anybody who dared ask for explanations was made the target of sarcastic remarks. The methods for problem solving presented by Mr.Katze were very over complicated, and old fashioned. He was almost never available for posted office hours. Although I earned a B in the class, I owe it more to the awesome tutors in the Math Center than Mr. Katzes teaching abilities. To put this review in perspective, the class began with over thirty, and ended up with about 6 people. All of those who dropped recieved refunds because the attrition rate was so high.
