Poor communicator, rude, judgemental, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!

Doric Earle was the instructor for my first online class at the University of Phoenix. As an adult learner, I was unsure of what to expect going back to school, especially in an online program. Mr. Earle seemed pretty nice, relatively educated, and possessed the appropriate knowledge to teach the course. However, as I dove further into the class, his lack of attention to detail, his attitude, and his responsiveness all went down the drain quickly. He would return our weekly feedback usually 7-10 days AFTER the week had ended, so I had no chance to improve on my skills based upon his feedback until it was too late. Upon the conclusion of class, I NEVER received the final week's feedback and grades on the assignments. I sent him numerous emails stating that I have a right to know how I did on the assignments, what my grade would be, etc. This went on for 3-4 weeeks, until I had to call my academic counselor and escalate the situation.

Upon my escalation, Mr. Earle copped a serious attitude with me, degraded me in an email saying that I was not a good student, and that I did not deserve the grade he gave me in the class. How's that for your introductory course after being out of college for over 10 years?!

I finally received feedback from him and received my final grade AFTER it had already been posted on UOP's website. I tallied up the various points from the assignments throughout the course, and then to my surprise, the grade posted for me was incorrect. I emailed Mr. Earle once again, and asked him about the grade. He stated that he had a "typo" in one of his cells of his spreadsheet, and also told me that I didn't deserve my grade, because I was only a "B" student and did not deserve the "A-" that the points totaled to be. He stated he gave me the grade only because I found his mistake.

He was a very ineffective communicator, rude, judgemental, and intimidating. He treated me like a nobody, regardless of the $1200 bucks I laid out to take the course. I would NOT recommend anyone take a course from him. Hopefully he has corrected his "typo" so that other students won't have a 5% difference in their grade. If it's true, I can only imagine how many other people he made the mistake for as well.

DEFINITELY, DEFINITELY, DEFINITELY a horrible experience being led by this instructor.
