I just found this site so forgive the lateness. John Gilpin was my instructor for RES342 back in 2004, and from the previous reviews that I've read it appears nothing has changed. John was one of my favorite instructors. He made RES342 simple for me. The assignments were challenging but he explained them so well that RES342 was easier for me than RES341. If you didn't understand the lesson or had a question about a problem, you usually had your answer that same day or even within hours.

I had John for RES341 and requested to have him for RES342. He is exceptionally clear with his lectures and explanations as well as extremely patient when getting his points across. While the RES classes are "historically" some of the hardest classes, John actually made these classes positive learning experiences for me. The classes are time-intensive due to the amount of information that must be covered, however, students that are willing to work and learn will come away from John's classes with knowledge and accomplishment.

Precise, patient, participative...I can't say enough about how he made an this online class doable.
His lectures explained things one way...then his class notes would explain in another way...and if you needed extra help he is RIGHT there.

John is one of the best instructors I've had here at UoP Online. The RES classes are notoriously among the most difficult classes for most students. John worked with each student individually to help them make the most of their learning experience. He even went so far as to have me call him at home to discuss an assignment. If you get John for an instructor, you can thank your lucky stars.
