He gave us a lot of thinking questions - not just yes or no. He gives good feedback with direction of how to improve.

I had a incredibly excellent experience with Dean. He provided incredible support and feedback! Because of him, I decided to stay with UOPHX. I had an unpleasant experience in my first class with the team members. There should be more professors like him and I can assure you that more people would attend school!

This was my worst class at UoP to date. The lectures were the only positive part of the class. The instructor posts a lot, but that does not equal a presence. A lot of the posts were off topic, and had nothing to do with Critical Thinking, for example quotes from Erma Bombeck.
A lot of his posts asked questions like "what is YOUR thought on this". However, when giving him MY thought I was told in my weekly grade that he is not interested in my opinion, he wants me to quote and show proof for what I am saying. If he does not want my opinions, he should not ask for them.
I did not get full participation grade until the last week, which is the week when I participated the least. The first week I had over 20 posts, with about 7 of them pertaining to other peoples bios, and the rest on topic posts. I lost 1 point (15%) of my participation grade. On the first paper I was docked for missing headings, I was the only student in the class who had used headings. I don't believe he even looked at the work, he seems to cut and paste comments from templates for his grading.
We had a very unpleasant student in class who in the end got extremely offensive. The instructor refused to do anything about her, and basically gave her an A despite all of her emotional and personal outbursts. This woman should have failed a critical thinking class, but was passed anyway. I don't believe the instructor ever monitored the team newsgroups.
I received a good grade in that class, but I have come to believe that everyone in the class received an A.
Also, for a teacher who values grammar and spelling as highly as he supposedly does, he had a whole lot of mistakes in the one e-mail I received from him that was not cut and paste from template.

Dean is very knowledgeable and is ever-present in the classroom. He requires his students to do a lot of thinking! He presents the material in a very 'real world' manner and gives practical uses for the skills learned in class. Dean also has a great personality and keeps students motivated with his energy. He obviously loves facilitating and teaching--it shows in his lecture materials and his classroom discussions.
