He is extremely open-minded and his understanding of film is very broad. He deeply considers questions and issues before answering. Personable and makes class a good time. He tends toward the conceptual, which I suppose is the reason students who are unable to think critically are giving him such a hard time in these reviews. He just reviewed my thesis and though he voted not to pass it (he was overruled) his feedback on my proposal was incredibly valuable. He also goes the extra mile to relate to students (I've seen him at parties) outside of the classroom.

Jack is one of the better professors the SOFA department has. Has a wealth of information to offer, and manages to keep classes interesting.

He really gives helpful advice on the critques, but really doesn't focusing on teaching as he depends more showing movies etc. So oftentimes we are left clueless.

Jack has no personality. He really favors experimental work, and if you don't like that style, you won't do as well in his classes. Oh well, I didn't lose sleep over it.
