This class was great - but not exactly easy. The exams are all multiple choice and come directly from the lecture and the study guides.
GET THE STUDY GUIDE AND USE IT If you do and have any memory power at all you will do well.
This teacher is kind and funny and thoroughly knows American Indian history and issues.
Lots of reading - but it was enjoyable.

Well, this course is no "gimme" obviously- Dr Bonney is incredibly tough but incredibly fair. She will help you learn to write like nobody else. Just pay attention and you will know what is required and what the deadlines are and she will help you through it all. Her Seminar was rigorous and required enormous amounts of time and effort. I definitely busted several veins. This was a really stringent course in researching and writing - yet somehow she remains a human being - with compassion. Wow - what a novel concept. If you are an anthro major, try to get Dr B for this course - if you do your work and obey the rules you will turn out a great paper, get a great grade, and have fun in the meantime.

Of all the anthropology courses this has got to be the BEST of the best. Dr Bonney loves her field and wants you to love it too, and you WILL! Plus you will learn about everything from the meanings of cave art, to the history of architecture. Interesting lecture and reading - but there is a lot of reading. Use the study guide - these other people here are not kidding - these guides really are essential. She has put a large amount of time into preparing them and they will truly "guide" you through the lecture AND reading - the contents of the guide is what to concentrate on most. And the best part of this best class is that you will get to play with clay, and weave a wonderful gorgeous satifsying-to-make-and-use basket. You will feel very aboriginal and strong. Take this class. You will not regret it -unless..... you take it and don't actually go to class (a big mistake), or don't read the assigned material (another GIGANTIC mistake - seriously). There is also EXTRA CREDIT out the wazoo if you want it - tons of other benefits too numous to mention!!!! If you don't believe me - just ask around!

As always, you can't go wrong with a class with Dr Bonney. This class is like so many others that she gives - full of good information, organized structure, humorous light tone, multiple choice (opscan) tests that VERY ACCURATELY reflect lecture and reading material, fair grading, interesting reading, useful orgainzed study guide, extra credit if you want it. Great lectures - if you don't understand something or miss something just ask her - she is so willing to help all students. Just go to class and read the material. You will learn and make an A too.

I am an anthropology major and I loved this class but it is good for anybody in any field. It is probably one of the very best that I have ever taken - EVER! Lots of neat stuff to learn about different family types around the world. It is writing intensive and there were several tests also. The writing exercises are very systematic and no pain to do. Extra credit and study guide helped. If you are looking for a (W) goal this is definitely a great one to take. She is a compassionate teacher and will lead you through the steps in this course. She knows her subject and the reading material is pertinant.

I enjoyed this class. It fit my learning style well. The lectures are very detail heavy. There is a huge amount of information to remember. The study guide she has really helps with the lectures and the readings. It is invaluable really. The tests were multiple choice and came directly from her lecture and the reading. She was fair and kind.

I thoroughly enjoyed this class. The lectures were interesting and made sense. It was easy to take sensible notes. There was one paper and 4 tests. The tests are multiple choice and she is fair in every way. The questions that are most often missed were on the final exam which was NOT cumulative. She knows and loves her subject. This course would be good for anybody I think. Oh, there is a study guide that Dr Bonney puts out. You can buy one at Gray's bookstore and it is very valuable in taking notes and it has questions to answer about the readings she assigns. Many of the questions you find in the guide are also on the tests.

Lots of work to keep up with the reading but a good class. Great caring teacher. Long tests but they are always multiple choice and she is completely impartial and fair. This is the best teacher to have for intro to anth because she has a great study guide and gives lots of good extra credit. She is organized and doesn't count test questions that most people miss. You will learn about the Yanomamo and a million other things you never heard of before. Very entertaining course.

All about Indians. I really enjoyed this class. Read the syllabus and do what it says to do. The readings are especially important - there is a good bit of reading but if you do it and complete the reading section of the study guide you will have no problem with the tests. Nice teacher.

Be a teaching assistant. You will not make any money - but you will get to compose and deliver a lecture to a big intro class. Great fun! Give at least one review session before each test - one or two per week are really better. Learn the inside story about conducting an introductory course from test construction to grading with a lot of practice helping students out in between. Use your imagination and help out as much as you can. Incredibly valuable experience.

The nicest teacher in the world. Knows so much about Native Americans. Tests are multiple choice and pretty long but so fair. The questions missed by a majority of the students are thrown out and appear on the final. She will tell you which questions these are after each test so there is plenty of time to study them - you WILL see them on the final - kind of like extra credit. And on the subject of extra credit, there are ample opportunities for extra points: simply attending class is the easiest, in addition you can get up to 25 points added into your final average for various activities - all fun - you decide what you want to do and what you don't want to do. GET THE STUDY GUIDE FROM GRAY'S! USE IT IN CLASS. KEEP IT OPEN WHEN YOU DO THE ASSIGNED READINGS - AND FILL IN THE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE READINGS AS YOU GO ALONG. This class is all laid out for you, just show up for class, take notes, do the readings, fill in the study guide, do one simple report and you will make a great grade. And learn about Native American Women's issues too. Great for majors and non-majors, those interested in Indians, or women.

Great Indians class. Very nice teacher, good sense of humor, loves puns. There is a ton of info packed into this course. Get the study guide from Gray's before you go to class - you will be glad. Do not miss any classes unless you are dead, there is so much in the lectures. Take good notes, use the study guide in class. Also use the study guide when doing the readings, do ALL of the assigned reading, keep the study guide open, answer all the questions in the guide from the reading, look over it again before the test - you WILL see these questions on the tests! Extra credit for attendance and other activities as well. Do as much as you can possibly squeeze in - well worth it. Multiple choice tests on opscans are long but stringently fair - if you took notes, and did the reading you should ace the tests easily. The questions that are missed by a majority of the class are thrown out and will appear on the final. If you can't keep up with the notes or the readings ask her if there is somebody to work with - or get one person to split the readings with (make SURE you trust the person to read thoroughly and answer the questions properly though). Very enjoyable class especially if you are interested in Indians at all.

FUN class. Overview of the intersection of art & anthropology - loads of information - you need to be there every class period and take good notes - do the extra credit - do ALL of the READING and fill in the study guide from Gray's. There are several projects, the most fun and satisfying is weaving an egg basket - It is big, beautiful, and you can give it to somebody for a gift if you want to - Just do your projects in class, even if they are not perfectly symmetrical or flawless it does not matter, you recieve full credit for attending and DOing the assignments. Just participate properly. This class is great for anthropology students, and of course art students too, or anybody who needs the goal and wants to take a nice fun class from and great teacher with a tremendous sense of humor. Lots of info to learn, it's best to keep up with it weekly. Multiple choice tests - fair grading - extra credit - fun projects - one afternoon per week. What more could you ask for? Do the work, read the readings, show up, be nice, get an "A"

This class should be required. It is jam packed with information and since it is writing intensive you WILL come out a better writer. Dr Bonney is fair and funny. The tests are multi-choice and always graded properly. Very objective. This class teaches about the different varieties of family constructions in the world. Incredibly interesting subject matter and even if you are not an Anthro major you will like this class. There is a good bit of work in this class though, try not to get behind. There is a good study guide to buy from Gray's that helps a Lot.

Thorough coverage of the Indians in the southeast. Great teacher, very nice lady. LONG yet FAIR multiple choice tests. This is how to succeed, learn a lot, and get an "A" in this class: --1. Go to class, take good notes, you get extra credit for attendance, --2. Get the study guide from Gray's, keep it with you at all times, use it to take notes in class, REALLY use it and fill it in when doing the READINGS, --3. READ all the material, there is really no way to get around that part, but if you do read and fill in the questions in the study guide you WILL do fine, --4. Take advantage of the extra credit - including language partners... you will be glad you did, --5. All of the questions that are missed by a significant number of students each test are thrown out and will appear on the final, she will tell you which questions these will be, no guess work here, just PAY ATTENTION - study these questions and you will see them and get them correct if you have a couple of memory cells to spare. She is nice and funny and helpful and fair. She likes students and really wants everyone to succeed.

Good overview of Native Americans. Dr Bonney has a great depth of knowledge of Indians in the US and she will give it all to you. Just make sure you don't miss class, do the lecture AND reading sections of the study guide. Take advantage of the ample extra credit opportunities she provides - they are more than extra points - they are fun and instructional too. The somewhat long multiple choice tests are very fair and if you go to class and read you should do well.

One of a pair of anthropology capstone courses. Dr Bonney is a strong and tough leader. She will teach you to write and you will be better for it. That is if you care about writing well enough not to sound like a hick in the future. The sequence of exercises that we went through in writing the final paper are not how I have always written - but very useful if you have any idea that you may have to write on demand in some future job. I had to force myself to be a more disciplined writer and less sensitive about being edited by someone else for content as well as structure. This professor is the perfect combination of anthropologist and english composition instructor. Go to class, be punctual, do your work, and she will lead you through it.

Great. Very nice lady who really knows her stuff and keeps it light with a great sense of humor. She gives a very large amount of information - so if you have trouble remembering details you MUST do all of the reading and never miss class. There is extra credit for attendance and tons of various other extra credit - up to 25 points aside from attendance - that is added into your final total. You can drop one test score, so if you keep up with everything you can just skip the final which is NOT cumulative! The final is composed mostly of the thrown out questions from the other tests, and she tells you exactly which questions those are, so if you can hear then you should make a 110 on the final anyway. Just study the questions that are thrown out. She has a study guide that you can buy at Gray's that are around $2-3 and you really should get this and use it to take notes - it will help you a lot. It is DEFINITELY ESSENTIAL. In the same study guide there are questions about all of the reading - FYI the tests will come directly from the study guide - do all the reading with the study guide open, answer the reading questions as you go along - read over these questions a couple times before the test - you will be glad you did! You still have to show up and take notes. But if you do that, and do ALL OF THE READING - and you are of at least lower average intelligence - then you can make an A. Lots of info, lots of reading, fair but long MULTIPLE CHOICE tests (on opscans), she throws out the questions that more than half the students miss on each test and gives those who got them right extra points!! She is tough and fair and really nice. You will really learn about anthropology and probably take her other classes later too.
