The fundamental optics class is essentially a "standard graduate course" in the department. The material is seen time-and-time again throughout most optics class at UNCC. (So pay attention). Dr. Farahi is very fair, though often soft spoken, and will take the time to explain topics in a clear manner -- in and out of class.
Lecture notes are usually provided in hardcopy (copies given to students) while an overhead is used during lecture.
The content of the course is very well-organized, follows the standard text considerably well, and a small project at the end of the semester allows you to give a shot at "public-speaking" on a topic you have researched.
Overall, a traditional physics class with some "new" appendages (like the topical project). Worth the time and effort.
Dr. Farahi is very knowledgeable, and should be sought out -- cornered in the hallway -- and listened to with a light heart.
