Good, if you know what you're doing!

Take this teacher only if you know what you are doing. You should already have some computer programming background before you enter this class, or else you will not understand what is being taught. Though, the class title says "Intro to...", it's more of an intermediate type class.

A good professor

I thought Dr. Goodrum was quite a good professor for Comp Sci I. He has a fairly interesting lecture style and is quite unconvenional in dress and personality but he isn't offensive at all. I thought he covered all of the topics really well. I am not sure why he gave me a B instead of an A (like the previous reviewer), but I suspect it is because he grades on a 7 point scale? I don't know. At any rate, it was a fair class and I don't see any reason to complain!

Good Prof.

Prof. Goodrum is actually much better than the previous reviwer is leading you to believe. Being a grad student for a few years, and having taught a few classes of my own gave me a different perspective on his performance taking an intro class during my graduate work.

The class I took was an intro class (as was the previous reviwer's), and he taught it as such. Was attending the class required to pass the class? No, but attendance was not required either. Many people have varying computer skills, whic is why the _intro_ class should be kept as a basic level. Even though I thought the class to be easy enough, some people, who worked very hard, still failed to produce passing grades. That's probably the reason he went so slowly. If you need the extra time, its there, if you don't, skip class and read the book. The material doesn't change if you learn it from him or the book.

Another major point was his patience with the 'idiots' of the class. Some people would ask stupid questions. (Really stupid) But he would always slow down till that person understood. I myself cannot put up with the amount of stupidity as he did.

So, in these regards, if you want to learn C, in an intro class (not a 2/3000 leve course) This is who to take on that level. If you are still looking for a chalenge afterwards, go to the library, check out a few books, and take more classes.

Very easy teacher.

This professor is one of the easiest I have taken. His lectures are a joke. I didn't attend half of them, the other half I read the newspaper. He'll start talking without introducing what he is talking about. He has an annoying habit of walking back and forth, back and forth across the front of the room, and when he does speak or write it is very ...s...l...o...w...l...y... It drove me crazy. If you browse over the book you can make an A or B on his tests. Don't leave an answer blank, he'll give half credit even if you put down BS. If you actually want a professor to teach you C++, do not take him. If you don't care about learning anything then take him. Even though he is supposed to teach C++ as part of the course, he doesn't. He does give five programming assignments from the book to do, but you can do them in C, C++, or whatever. If you hand something in, you will get a 100, even if your program is handwritten and never been tested. Or you could opt to not turn in the assignments- he'll give you an A for them at the end even if you didn't do them. He gave me a B for the course, and I think that I should have gotten an A, but I didn't fight it because I actually didn't turn in any of the programming assignments, so I was happy with what I made. I recommend this teacher even if the class sounds impossible.
