Dr. Wihstutz is a good professor, very knowledgeable, and good at fitting his subject to the students' level of knowledge. He makes good use of a great textbook, and is very patient with going through painstaking examples with students new to this field. This material is invaluable for anyone using any quantiattive methods in their work. This stuff is essential for any kind of mathematical modeling in almost any field.

Dr. Wihstutz is a very kind and engaging professor. He is also pretty fair-minded where it comes to grading. He often encourages students to attend his office hours. He is very knowledgeable and excited about linear algebra and its applications, which he consistently demonstrates in his lectures. His tests are pretty difficult. He also gives pop quizzes on the homework -- you just copy the solution onto a piece of paper and hand it in; this has actually helped my grade because I always did the homework. He really expects you to learn the theory behind linear algebra, not just how to solve the problems. I found linear algebra and therefore this class to be pretty challenging. There have been a number of times when I have left class totally perplexed. Fortunately, the textbook is very excellent. Many of the students have told me that they depend almost exclusively on the textbook in learning the material.
