Uh oh!!! The class actually requires THINKING, so some people don't like this, since you can't regurgitate your way through it. Midterm was very difficult for most people (Average was about 52 or so), but even those who didn't do so well on the midterm still got a decent grade in the class.

This prof tends to be a love/hate relationship. If you are an A/B+ student, you will love this guy. However, if you don't pick up on things FAST, don't take 625 with Supowit. He tends to teach the class at a level at which the math minors and other very intelligent people can understand....leaving the rest of us in the dust. I failed his first midterm, dropped the class, then retook it with Tamal Dey - and got a B!

Don't take this prof if you want an easy A. Lectures are usually decent but have an annoying tendency to wander. Good about answering questions in lecture, but don't ask a question in office hours if he can answer it in lecture. His personality can be a real bear at times, can be funny some times and impatient at others. Nevertheless, if learning is what you care about most, you will learn in this class, if you really work at it (push yourself on homework especially). The exams are rough, you may get a C in this class when you thought you were certain to fail.

He is a terrific teacher. I never know math. can be so simple and fun. Really enjoy his teaching about linear programming and dual theory.
