non philipino's beware

I took this class to learn how to conversate in tagalog. Dr. Bautista taught the first half of the summer semester and she didn't not teach me a thing. This class is suppose to help those who have never spoken the language. Instead, she favors the students who are native speakers who are there for an easy A. She only speaks in tagalog with the occasion of a one time quick translation in english of what it means. If you are not a native speaker and ask her questions about the class and the language, she does not seem willing to help you. If you make a mistake, she has this look like you have disrepected her, however, if it was a native speaker who made a mistake, she would laugh it off. The second half of the summer semester, Dr. Paz took over and he did an amazing job. Students, if you have a choice, take Dr. Paz. Only take Dr. Bautista if she is the last resort.

A cute and terribly funny older lady.

At first I thought this teacher was going to give me a hard time. She looked at everyone like she was going to eat them alive. Then we all got to know her better. She wasn't as bad as she looks. During the summer semester, she had only given us 4 homework. Some of the time she give the class more time to get their homeworks in. Just participating in class, would get an "A" in your grade as well as not having more than 2-3 absences. Overall, she's a funny little older lady with a good sense of humor.
