Edmund Bedecarrax

this class was super tough. exams were ridiculously hard unless you are a bio buff. this should not be an introductory course. it took me 3 times to finish, and i barely scathed by with a c. He is very knowledgeable about ecology, and his lectures were interesting.

Granted, this class has pretty much just begun but I had to get my two cents in! This is by far my favorite class AND teacher! I thought I would find it hard to stay focused during class, as it's held from 6:30 to 9:30pm... But Mr. B's lectures are fascinating and his enthusiam for what he does is catching! Dare I say I'm excited to go out and pull weeds (Habitat Restoration)!?

I am saddened that this is likely this teacher's last semester here - I hear he's retiring. What a deep loss CCSF will have. I feel most badly for the students who won't get to take his class and get to have the experience of having an instructor who truly loves what he does.

I want to emphasize that even though I've got a D in this class, I like his lectures. I was facinated by his lectures, and knowledge. However, exams are very difficult. The class average was a C or even D, as far as I know, only one person got A(in my class). If you think that grade is not important AT ALL, you may have yourself enjoyed his lectures very much. But... I am a 4.0 student, (except for this class, so I dropped it.), I don't just like getting good grades, I like to learn. But, again, it's likely to get a bad grade in his class.

I found the class to be very interesting. I enjoyed going to class but Bedecarrax himself left something to be desired. He made it quite clear, after the first time I approached him, that he was not available for me. His tests cover material never covered in class or in the assigned reading. Unfortunatley, if you are interested in Ecology you do not have a choice on whether or not to take this teacher.
