Mr. Bell is a really nice guy, but geez-louise! I was bored stiff in every class. For three hours he reads to you. That's it. Eventually you will get to bring in your work to share with the class and there will be some variety, but for the most part you are just sitting there listening to him read out loud. (And he will NEVER let the class out early, he will hold you hostage till the very end of every class.)
I don't feel like I learned anything. I wrote a short story I was very proud of and he ripped it to shreds and had NOTHING positive to say. The reading assignments were hardly discussed. His expectations of homework, reading, writing, etc. were never clearly defined ("just write more." was all he ever told me). He gave me a C as my midterm grade because he hadn't given us any work on which to grade us!
I really wish I had dropped it when I had a chance. I feel like it was a waste of my time.

He talks totally off topic! He assigns too much homework without an explanation! This guy really likes to criticize his students and their writing. He acts like he doesn't respect for his students but he does return phone calls.

I was very disappointed! He is not nice person and he gave us alot of homework on spring break! I didn't learn that much! He always goes off subject and then when we have a big assignment he doesn't go into with detail. Then we have to redo the assignment and it still does not meet his standards. On the good side he does return phone calls when you are absent. I do say he does put down his students and their writing without getting to the route of problem and teaching us english.

Mr. Loren Bell gives the class a chuckle every once in a while and has many interesting stories rather true or false. He is also lenient as far as turning in assignments. However, he has problems sticking with the syallabus which throws the class off. Mr. Bell makes false comments about Christianity, he is a very bitter person; so, if you are a Christian you might not want to take his class.

So, he makes you read some AMAZING literature, don't slack because you're only cheating yourself. He's really opinionated (in a good way) and the class is very interactive, so don't be shy. He's hard to get a good grade out of, however, so don't expect to get it on the first, second, third, or even fourth tries. (I think there were two A's in my class). Oh, and you learn how to write!

Mr. Bell is an awesome teacher. He is down to earth and very talkative. His topics of conversations are always interesting, and boy does he make you laugh. The only problem with Mr. Bell is that he does tend to be put papers of by two or more weeks. But it's O.K. as long as you learn something in his class. His classes are always filled, so if you want to take an excellent teacher then register in his class, you won't regret it. So register right away for his class, he is the MAN!!!

I disagree with most other students it seems. Although Mr.bell has a great personality, the way he taught our class left me with nothing other than a few laughs. I did not learn very much, due to his inconsistency with the syllabus, his in class dicussions, and his homework. The only thing i concluded from his class was that apparently,i am a bad writer. I have always done well in english classes, and his grading and lack of actually teaching {not storytelling}leads me to believe my grades and lack of confidence in my writing skills now,are from him...

I can say a lot of good things about this teacher, but the main thing about him is his unbelievable, tremendous knowledge. Classes were relaxing, no preasure, we had a great deal of discussions with the aim to develop our critical thinking skills. And I should say it worked for me and I'm sure that it will work for you as well.

Mr. Bell has given me so much confidence. His lectures are invigorating! Writing and dicussing come a lot easier, and I generally am in such good spirits when I leave his class. It has been a while since I have studied..but this has made me want to continue on. Thankyou Mr. Bell! Carry on!

Mr. Bell is a really nice person. He can make class very interesting. Sometimes, he goes off the topic, but most English teachers do it. People really seem to respond to what he says. The way he grades is relatively hard. Your grade is based on 5-6 essays. Most are take-home essays. Two in-class essays: the midterm and final. He gives workshops for the first two take-home essays. After that, you're on your own. He gives a lot of light reading and ask you to write a few questions about it. Overall, his class was pretty fun. It got overwhelming at the end because he made the last four essays due in the last two weeks. but he was very flexible about the due dates. Overall, a good class. But you have to be willing to work and ask for help if you want to get a good grade.

Mr. Bell is the smartiest man i have ever met in my life. If he wasnt an english teacher he should run for president. He is very opinionated, and he cared about his students. At first he might be indimidating but as the semester goes on he changes. He is a cool guy, you will learn a whole lot, and he might change ur life. Cool guy. Lots of reading though, but the readings are interesting. Take Him

Mr. Bell was a very interesting instructor. He did go off topic alot of the time, but i guess thats what I liked the most because thats when hes most understandable. In my opinion, he is too knowledgeable in his topics. He is so knowledgeable, that unless u give him 100% of your attention, you'll be lost. His essays can be intimidating, but for the most part expected from a 1B class. He is very approachable, easy to talk to, understanding, and lenient. I highly suggest that you take him, if you don't mind having to keep up with his readings.

Well, if you're looking for a lenient teacher,he's the one.. See, you can actually turn in late papers at the end of the semester. The first essay that I have to rewrite, I handed it in at the end of the semester and he was cool about it, he still took my paper.. He's cool.. He looks mean at first but as the semester goes along he's really cool. If you're the type of student who just want to slide by, take him..

Bell is a great teacher. He is very passionate about his subject and teaches it well. However, he does get off topic and never sticks to the syllabus. But, its great when he goes off topic because hes got tons of great stories. He should have a class just about his experiences, theyre very interesting. At the end of the semester, expect to be overwhelmed with a load of essays, critiques and papers, but he usually just drops a whole bunch of assignments at the end. As long as you do your reading, which isnt hard, youll have a great time in class.

Excellent teacher. Highly recommended. Very casual, but in-depth discussions/lectures. Mid-terms and Finals weren't difficult if you do the readings.
