FABULOUS!

What can I say about Angela? Well, she's inspired me to want to pursue a Master's degree in Sociology. I guess I can start there.

I needed to take SOC 1 as part of the set of pre-requisites to City College's Registered Nursing program. I chose Angela's section because it was listed under the Gay and Lesbian Studies Department's list of offerings. Class was held at the GLBT Center at 1800 Market Street on Wednesday nights and was taught with a queer focus. What that meant was that when we studied culture, we looked at culture as a whole and at GLBT culture specifically. When we studied family, we looked at family in general and at things like gay adoption, gay and lesbian couples with children, etc. So fascinating.

My only regret is that Angela lives in Sacramento, so her course load at City College is understandably limited. City College needs to offer her a permanent full-time position.

Let's see... her exams were reasonable. No surprises. She provides a thorough study guide in advance of tests. Be able to answer the questions on the study guide, you'll be fine on the test. Oh yeah, she also lets you bring in a single piece of letter paper -- double-sided if you'd like -- as a cheat sheet for exams. A bunch of multiple choice questions, a couple of essays. Cake.

Her out of class assignments, tho. Oh wow. Topics included the prison industrial complex and a look at media concentration (harmful or liberating, the assignment asked). Okay, she was preaching to the choir, but still, it was so wonderful.

Angela's great. I can't wait for her to get another section at City College.

Excelent teacher, one of my favorites so far, fun class under her

An excelent teacher. Funny, interesting and a great teacher. She mainly teachs classes in Sacramento but does teach at City College (might be only one class per semester or only some semesters). This class has proven to be one of my favorites so far, I've learned alot and she makes the class is chanlenging enough that you learn but not a back breaker.

The class section I am taking is at the Gay and Lesbian Center on market st which is an excelent location, nice seats, etc.

She is quite liberal which might make the class unpleasent for students who are rabidly conservative (ie she often looks at things from the left leaning Conflict Theory perspective which focuses on class conflict).
