Happy! Fun! Sometimes ditsy but a GOOD TEACHER JUST THE SAME!

Mrs. Cadoppi is a very fun teacher. She really makes the language fun! She's very clear in explaining and she gives out practice mid term and final tests to take home and study. Most of the questions on the mock tests were on the real test! Use the lab booklet and her take home study sheets. Don't get behind! Practice the language every day if you can because it is very easy to forget and very hard to catch up! I really liked it when we'd sing Italian songs in the end of class. It really helps! Sometimes we'd even perform little acts in Italian. It was fun!

One important thing: Don't be fooled by her last name. She's not Italian. She married one. =)

Passionate about the language

Carole Cadoppi is a force of nature. Bubbly and energetic and enthusiastic, she speaks quickly and laughs easily. This is very scary for the first few weeks when you basically have this woman babbling and gesturing at you in another language and laughing at jokes you don't understand. But her genuine love for the language is infectious and if you actually take the time to study (instead of expecting to learn a language just from one night a week class) you might be able to keep up and will be well on your way to learning Italian.

Unfortunately, especially for evening classes, there are times when one's attention lapses for a moment, and then it's easy to get left behind by her quick classroom pace. But she's very forgiving and willing to repeat or rephrase until everyone "gets it". Several people in our class dropped out because of this quick pace - this class is certainly not a cakewalk. You will learn Italian!

Professoressa Cadoppi takes the time to create interesting classroom assignments and exercises; some of her games were very helpful and several of us students replicated them at home for our own studies. Her exam assignments seem terrifying when you read them, but are actually quite good ways to enforce what you've already learned.

I gave her a lower mark for class availability since she doesn't have a lot of office hours and is sometimes slow to check her email, but still within acceptable guidelines - just don't expect a 24 hour turnaround on things like you might from a more wired professor.

Overall, Carole is a great teacher and I look forward to working with her again when I reach the higher level classes she normally teachers.
