Interesting class, decent teacher

Women in the Economy was an easy-A class, but I didn't try very hard so I got a B. Ms Goldsmith gives you LOTS of pages to read and take home as worksheets, so use an extra-big binder. The worksheets are really easy. She takes late homework and gives extra credit for writing papers on related subjects. She is a nice enough teacher, but a bit uptight. She was in such a rush to get through the material that she would cut people off from speaking if they talked too much or got off topic. Some of the students were pretty clueless and she would get mad at them for their biases and for not being openminded. Some of the students were unhappy with her treatment of them.

I felt that the class COULD HAVE been really great, but was only good. I would have liked more in-depth coverage of the economy and how it relates to women. Some of the stuff we covered, like women's body image, should have been left to a seperate class. However, I'm glad I took the class and some of the articles we read were really eye-opening. If you want to learn more about women's roles in ther U.S. and some of the history of this, you should take the class.

P.S. We had 5 or 6 guys in this small class, so guys can take it too!

Great teacher A+

She makes the class interesting and funny. I loved economics after taking her class. One of the best teachers at CCSF. You have to do a lot of homework, but she makes sure you understand her class.

A Horrible Teacher

The other reviews of this teacher are a crock. Goldsmith is a HORRIBLE teacher. Her methods are the same as a high school instructor. I learned absolutely nothing new from her class, all I had to do was jump through hoops. Her instruction was boring and convoluted, without much clear direction or purpose. She seemed fairly interested in Economics, but didn't seem adequately qualified to instruct students to even basic principles. Goldsmith has an idea of how she would like to convey the material, but does not understand precisely how to. I would not take this course again.

Great silly lady

i thought i wasn't going to pass her class because i didn't quite understand economics. i spoke to her during her office hours and went to her reveiws and she saw how hard i was trying. when finals rolled around i passed with a C, which is good enough for me! i think Goldsmith is a very great and understanding teacher and is very patient with her students. she helped me understand the concepts more.

Excellent Economics teacher

You have to come to class everyday to excel in her class. Her teaching methods are very clear and she'll make sure you understand. She isn't a tough grader but you must do your homework and study the textbook. She'll move faster in the later part of the semester so you have to pay close attention to her. Very good teacher. Highly recommended.

Professor Goldsmith is an excellent instructor

Professor Goldsmith is truly one of the most caring professors I've had throughout all my college years. She is genuinely concerned and interested in teaching students, and always does all she can to help students understand all the important concepts of her class.

Her Econ1 class is not easy, but it's not difficult either. It is very fair in that there is a lot of material to cover, but she goes over examples in class exhaustively until everyone understands and she presents it in a way that is clear and easy to grasp. Quizzes and exams are always clearly announced in advanced, and they directly reflect the examples done in class and homework problems. There are also multiple review sessions before each exam if anyone is having trouble, so there is no excuse for not taking advantage of all Professor Goldsmith does to help you get the best grade possible.

Homework amount and difficult is fair, never too little, but never stressfully too much. Reading for the class is a little high, but you do not have to fully understand everything you read on your own. Any questions or concerns you have on the material, Professor Goldsmith encourages you ask and present to the class. She creates a very friendly atomsphere to ask questions, so no one ever feels inimitated or stupid when voicing any difficulty they might have.

Reading several of the reviews for the other economic teachers here at CCSF, you can clearly see that Professor Goldsmith is consistently rated exceptionally well and one of only two who has an overall mark of "A." She definitely deserves it because she is a thoughtful and concerned teacher and you will not regret taking a course with her.
