Dan Kwan

Kwan Saang teaches to competency of the class. I suspect the frustrations of a previous reviewer is due in part to the influences/complaints of the class. In my semester, I noticed many students complaining about tests and pushing the boundaries of what would be tested, even when he had given us prior warning. With the bar being pushed ever lower, he spent a lot of time stressing (and re-stressing) the core basics, instead of following the syllabus.

I think that if he had simply expected more out of the class and taught at that level accordingly, most people would have risen to the occasion and the class of the whole would have performed/learned to a more advanced level.
