Michael Maxwell was great to take calculus from. The classes were always interesting; he taught the concepts behind the formulations, not just the methods. (I had tried to take this course from another prof ahwile back; he was awful - couldn't understand him and all he did was proofs.)
Maxwell taught interesting applications to go along with the math. He is extremely bright and passionate about mathematics - it showed. Yet he never failed to answer any question, no matter how (seemingly) uninformed.
Maxwell's tests were very fair, and often included homework problems that were assigned. He never tested us on problems that were over what the basic stuff we learned was.
Also, he was easy to understand. (Meaning - he speaks English well, and describes the mathematics very well.)
