I took Mr. Park's English 1A class in the summer of 2003. One of my classmates was Svetlana Angert, who was pissed off at him for giving him a B, when she wanted an A. She told me that she was going to get back at him. I looked at her papers and noticed that he always gave her a B because she had run-ons all over the place. I thought he was more than fair to her because he gave the class a rubric that said to get an A in English 1A, writing should be relatively free of errors.
She was also one of two people who were always talking in class together, because she was mad at him for giving her a B on all her papers. The rest of the class was very respectful and spoke only when they wanted to contribute to the class discussion.
She told me she wanted to go to Berkeley and she couldn't get a B for that reason. I will say Mr. Park was a good English 1A teacher. Svetlana Angert gave him a D because he gave her a B. She needs to get over her Anger(t) and stop lying. And he knows English well enough to teach it. She really went over the top when she says that. But she can't hide behind her anonymity. He also returned papers to us promptly.

I WANT TO TELL YOU THAT MR. PARK IS A VERY GOOD TEACHER. I HAVE READ SOME NASTY COMMENTS LEFT BY PEOPLE ABOUT THINGS HE SAID ABOUT HOMOSEXUALS AT CITY. WELL I AM THE MOST OPEN TRANSSEXUAL AT CITY, AND CAN TELL YOU THAT THEY ARE LIES. I HATE ENGLISH, BUT MR. PARK MADE IT A LEARNING EXPERINCE. HE IS FAIR, OPEN AND HONEST EVEN WITH THE TROUBLE MAKERS THAT ATTENDEND HIS CLASS. I HAD SOME PROBLEMS WITH CLASS MATES BECAUSE OF MY GENDER, BUT HE MADE ME FEEL SECURE. IF YOU NEED A GREAT ENGLISH TEACHER TAKE HIS CLASS HE WILL TEACH YOU AS LONG AS YOU WANT TO BE TAUGHT....

Mr. Park is a really good teacher. He not only takes the time to discuss the material he's teaching in class throughly, but he makes sure that everyone understands it. He also has a sense of humor; granted if the students maintain their workload and don't misbehave or chatter on in class, he not only tolerates but participates in a little friendly horseplay. However, this does not rob him from his main goals: teaching his students what they need to learn. Sometimes, during his lectures, he tends to have a few pauses, but nonetheless, his linguistics in all aspects are easy to comprehend. He is a very open-minded teacher and is very accepting of feedback and opinions. Outside of class, he's always avaliable for students who seek extra help.

I loved Mr. Park's class. He's a very nice guy and he prefers to direct student discussions on the texts we read. He lets you say what you think, but he never lets the topic stray too far from what he has in mind. His tests are difficult but passable if you've done the reading and been to class consistently. The papers are graded fairly and consistently. A very good class

Mr. John Park is a very hip teacher, who knows his work very well. I learned concepts and practices of the English language that I did not know existed thanks to him. He does give out homework and you are required to write a research paper at the end of the semester, however, he is fair in his grading and you will definitely come out of his class with more of a knowledgable comand of English.

What Ever that person was talking about doesn't give Mr. Park the respect and how good a teacher he is. But He answers all the questions that you ask him. He's aware and willing to learn new things like slangs and vocabulary that people use. His grading habits are fair and he gives you a chance to make it up. He is fair to all his students and he would not drop the subject until it is done. He might have alot of essays to do but overall he gives you a chance on learning new types of essay writing. He is a helpful person he will go out of his way the e-mail the missing handouts if you are not in class. My Recomendation - Take this class

Let's start with the most outrageous part of Park's class. His essay asignments are impossible to understand and he doesn't do anything to make make it more clear. You are not allowed to have your own opinion on things (if you do you just simply fail). He doesn't know how to teach English and I believe he actually doesn't know English well enough to teach it. Mr Park's grading system is impossible to understand. He doesn't know how to deal with students, so the class becomes a mess sometimes. My grade would be much lower if i wouldn't fight with him over all of his corrections to my papers, but I've seen a couple of people who got grades much lower than they deserved. We were supposed to have 5 take home essays, one of them was final 10 page paper and two in class essays. We actually had 4 out of class essays and 1 test that he gave us instead of a paper. i also want to warn women and homosexuals that it might be pretty hard for you to take this class. Mr. Park can easily say that women aren't as smart as men and so on... He can easily offend anybody and he does it all the time to the people who oppose him. My recomendation - Do not take this class.
