Meredith Rose

I took Professor Rose on English 92, so I decided to take her again in English 40. Gosh, it was a pain in the ass! My first essay was a D-. I mean, how much lower can you get? Anyway, I had to work my butt off to improve my grades, but it was all worth it. Both my analytical skill and my english have improved tremendously, and for that, I can't thank her enough.

Ms Rose is a great professor. Her class is quite challenging and the learnings that I adquired from her had serverd me well as I progressed to highter level English.

Ms. Rose is a really engaging, friendly and encouraging teacher. She guided the class through learning how to write the way universities want students to write in a fun way. We had one class project which was excellent and the assigned readings were all essays and books that I would have read on my own anyhow.

After dropping English 1A twice, I had extreme anxiety over this class. Since there was no way of getting out of taking the class, I chose her. She was inspiring, energetic, humorous and opened my eyes to the fact I can and do write well. Within the first 5 minutes of class, I knew I chose the right instructor for me. The in class and off-site essays were challenging and rewarding. I wish she taught Eng 1B.

Before taking her class I had a frear of writing essay and after taking her course I have no problem with writing. Shes funny and energetic which made me want to goto class. Shes easily understood. Too bad she's not teaching 94!

Meredith is an excellent teacher with a wonderful personality and classroom demeanor. In 1A, she doesn't rehash grammar as she expects you to know it, but rather, she encourages your critical reading and analysis skills. Yes, she does assign several in- and out- of class essays during the course of the semester, but these are skills that everyone needs to know and Meredith gives you a lot of guidelines and information to write those essays. Her non-judgemental openness to students' opinions during class discussions is wonderful!

I took english 1A with another teacher and dropped it last semester. Meredith has renewed my interest for English. She has taught me so much in just half of the semester. I am no longer afraid to write an essay. She is clear and interesting. She speaks well, explains things in an easy to understand way. Her assignments and books are interesting and relevent. She is funny and insightful and cares about what she is doing. If you want to learn and have have your ability fostered, take this class. She is great.
