Schube for President

Schubert is bomb ass. His class is totally straight forward. 100% of what you need to know for tests is covered in detail in the class. Therefore if you take good notes and study them, you cant fail. He is also incredibly approachable and easy to work with. Also, worth mentioning, 20% of your graDE give or take another 5 is based on written questions turned in every day at the begining of class. Dont get spooked when he tells you to read all these chapters, thats just suplimentary work but he tells you you have to read because hed get in trouble with his bosses if he didnt. The guy is funny as hell to. If youre a rigid republican or a tree hugging liberal, ure gona find some aspect of Schubes views on politics to be appealing. However if ure a comited extremist on eithier front and want propaganda instead of knowlege than you will likely not be pleased. Overall the guy is middle of the road and fair in just about every political issue. I highly recomend this course.

One of the best teachers I've ever had

Mr. Schubert is the kind of teacher that most students dream about. He molds some of the subject matter to fit the student's interests. One way he does this is by requiring each student to hand in 25 questions, this is also how he tracks attendence so it's 25% of your final grade. In the beginning of class he often answered some of the questions which was a great way to stay informed on current political issues. So we not only learned about the big picture of the political machine, we also learned about issues that effect our daily lives. After completing a semester with Mr. Schubert my knowledge of the U.S. political system had grown exponentially. Bottom line, he's a great teacher and makes learning fun. As for his tests... you need to study. The tests consisted of fill in the blank and short answer/essay questions. Each test also had a take home essay portion.

Funny Guy

Lou Shubert is God's Gift to Poli Sci. He made American Government fun and interesting. He sometimes seemed biased, but hey how can a gov't teacher avoid that accusation. In his defense he went out of his way to make sure we never knew how he positioned himself on an issue. Always he gave both sides of an issue and everything in-between. My hero, I loved his class so much I am going to take his political theory class next semester. I am a little intimidated by Plato and Aristotle, but if anyone can keep me in the game, it's Prof. Shubert. Take his class! As long as you pay attention and take good notes, you cannot fail.

Very Fun Class

Excellent teacher! He is very interesting and knowledgable about his subject matter, which he tries to present with humor. He's very caring and makes it really easy for you to get a good grade in class. If you go to class and follow the lecture, it's an easy "A" beause the tests are based directly on the lectures. The reading assignments can be bypassed if you pay attention in class. The final paper requires no research. An he is NOT weird...God such judgments! He's a reallly nice guy, but if you're a sheltered Republican, you probably won't like him, but then again, you probably won't like most people at CCSF.

The best political science teacher!

He makes political science interesting. His lectures are organize and understandable. He also have a good sense of humor;a very funny guy. He gives three overall test-One in the beginning, midterm, and final. Along w/those test there are three take home essays. He gives only one type of homework. The homework are short question or one sentence question that has anything to do w/the news or anything related to political science. You have to turn in between 15-20 question per the whole semester. (He doesn't take role!)

Best of the Best

What an interesting class. I accidently took this class at the beginning of the semester & i told myself, "Great, politic... such a boring class." But his teaching method totally changed my thought. He is extremely funny, good personality. We tatched 2 movies this semester, and all of them are thumbs up. 3 exams & 2 essays for the whole semester. He reviews before every exam. All of them are easy. You will get 25% of the grade if you turn in 25 questions on each lecture (Each question worth 1%). HE IS AN EASY TEACHER, TAKE HIM, NO REGRET.

Schubert for President!

Mr. Schubert is a riot. 25% of our grade is just questions that you turn in at the beginning of the class. But in all things, this teacher is extremely well versed in the subject he is teaching and comes at each political topic from different angles. He has written a book on what he's teaching and makes everything clear and comical so that you can't forget the material he is teaching.

I highly recommend!

One of the best teachers I've ever had. Because politics is constantly changing, his agenda changes as well. As long as you attend all his lectures and take good notes, the semester will go bye fairly well. He reviews the material before a test, which is very helpful considering there was much ground to cover. I highly recommend taking his class. I learned plenty and was actually interested in the material.

Nice teacher with an attitude

I didn't like this instructor's personality at all. He was a nice teacher, but he had this ugly attitude that disgusted me. I remember him saying " I know all of you can read, but my daughter can't because she's 4 years old." Anyways, the good news is that he lectures well and knows a lot about American politics.

Not so bad

To me this was a difficult course to follow, really. It was too broad and it was not well organized. The class discussions did not follow an organized outline and some of us di dnot understand how the comparisons of ethnic groups helped to follow recent political activity. He is a nice, kind of goofy guy though.

Not so good to me

This teacher did not impress me. He is kind of weird and shows movies all the time. His political ideas do not appear to reflect the mainstream of American society. He likes to talk a lot about, guess what? Buffy the Vampire!

An all-around AWESOME teacher!

Schubert is an all-around great teacher!! He makes the class interesting and I admit I learned a lot more than I expected in his class. His exams are based mainly on his lectures. He answers any questions anyone has to ask. He doesn't really assign much homework, but otherwise it's not even that hard. Honestly, I didn't read much from the textbook, maybe from time to time, but his lectures are clear and they help a lot! His jokes are funny. I plan on taking his Ethnic Politics class in the Fall and I know he'll be great in that!

A very liberal young-hearted proffesor

If you have to take a political science class, take it with this teacher. His presentation of the material is great, and his lectures are interesting to keep me awake for the one and half hour class that I took. His exams are based on his class lectures, which he presents clearly and in a very organazed fashion. Homework level is at a minimum and after each lecture, I walked out knowing something new about our government. Good movie selection, text book was alright, but your grade depends on your exam and the completion of the little ammount of homework. Over all, very informative and doable.

Makes Political Science 1 not so boring

The class is pretty laid back. I like his liberal point of view. There's really no homework other than reading the textbooks of the class. There's no projects you have to do. Just be sure to take good notes and try not to sleep too much in his class since his tests are based on the notes and what he talks about in class. Though it's not a big deal, he spends too much time reading and answering student questions.

1 verb to descrbe his class: Exciting!

Awesome Teacher.

THE bad: book is bad, teacher is a little paranoid for class-recording, gets carried away with jokes.

THE Good: Everthing Else, 25% your attendance + participation during summer classes. SUPER GREAT lectures, GReat President Impesenation, Good movie selection for class previewing. Open Minded.

85% of class stayed after drop deadline of which 70% got A 20% B and 10% rest

Recommeded!!!

I don't know what my final grade is like because I'm enrolling in his class. However, I can tell you that he's a great teacher and knows politics well. I'm so happy to be in this class since he makes it so much fun while we learn. He appears to be so helpfull and does his best for us all to get A. Of course, there is nothing else cooler than that, isn't it?
