Gloria Weinstock

Gloria Weinstock is a talented, passionate, challenging professor. Her class didn't just teach me about acting, it taught me about living. She is amazing. I remember that as the class kicked off, wimpy students dropped like flies. That was fine. It left us with a cohort of students who were serious about acting and growing together. Don't take her class if you want an easy A. Heck. Don't take her class if you want an easy C! But DO take her class if you're looking for a serious, talented acting teacher and a life-transforming experience.

I'm writing this review five years after having taken Gloria Weinstock's Acting 101 course. I recently cited her and an acting technique she uses in a blog I author in relation to my graduate research project, participatory theater and education.

I first thought this was going to be fun until her diva attitude took over. She tells us to leave our ego at the door but she shows off. She cuts down her students and isn't very kind. Don't get me wrong her acting is good! but lets say the class started out with 40 students and only left with 8! That's how bad it was.

Mrs. Gloria Weinstock is the most incredible human being I know. She is passionate about her work and her students. She is what every teacher needs to be, a teacher that pushes her students to come out of thier protective shells (ego's) and let thier hearts and souls free. She once quoted "One must fall down; get back up, and try it again, and again, and again". Anyone who is passionate about the artform she will push you to your breaking point only for you to learn the most valuable lesson. you will find the anwser at the end of the semester, if you make it! love ya glo glo

Let me begin by saying THIS IS A TEACHER!!!!!!!!From reading the other students reviews, and from my own experience, the people who usually give her bad reviews ARE THE SHY ONES AND PEOPLE WHO WONT TRY!!!!Moron "students" who think acting is just playing around. She is serious about her work, and if she sees no effort on your part, she's not going to bother with you then. Dont expect to just warm your sorry ass in the chair and pass. Fools!! It is exactly these type of teachers who get the most out of you. She is a challenge and she is GREAT. If your to weak or shy, then GET THE F_CK OUT, AND TAKE A DAMN SPEECH CLASS!!!!!!!LOSERS!!!Gloria Kicks ASS!!!!!!!

I love this teacher. She is real. She wants everyone to work hard. Eventhough sometimes she gets disappointed if one does not understand what she says. She is very nice. She gives a lot of tough love. She loves what she does and not that many teachers are like her. I took her class and I was definitely nervous. She is great. I learned a lot from her class. I actually think I became much of a better student afterwards, by being in the moment. Only the strong survives in her class.

Gloria is a nice lady and a talented actress. Unfortunately, for her(and us)teaching is not her strong point. She is very irregular in her methods and what is good one day is completely wrong the next. At the end of the semester the class had been intentionally beaten down to less than a third of its original size and nobody was pleased with the teachers overall performance. Students that helped out with her projects recieved favoritism and did not have to complete the class projects. Mrs Weinstock seemed to forget the fact that this was BEGINNING acting. Looking at the grades received by different students, one would not be surprised if her method of grading would be to throw a bunch of letters in a hat and then withdraw one for each name. Luck of the draw. Be warned. It seems that all her projects are about the hardships blacks have faced throughout history at the hands of the evil white man. Can anyone spell CHIP.
