Zoology is cool.

Mr Bucher is a pretty cool teacher. Zoology was a very intersting class. Lectures can get boring, but only because of the tone of his voice, sometimes. The contents are really intresting. I recommend that you should have some biology experience before taking this class. I didn't and it was a little fast pace for me. Now that I look back at my notes and recall some of the material, it all makes sense. There is a lot of memerization required. Just be sure you UNDERSTAND things more than anything and the memerization part is not so bad. Most biology classes are like that. You will need to memerize a whole lot of classifications. The tests are from lecture, labs, and reading material. Pay attention and you'll be fine.

hard teacher

His class was sort of boring and sometimes hard to understand. Basically, I had to learn on my own and read the book in order to do well on his tests. His tests are either multiple choice, essays, fill in the blank, or identifying parts of a picture. What makes me mad is that he never told me that we have to know the stuff that my class and I did in our lab. So, if u have to take his class, make sure you're able to identify certain slides and disections. There are about 8 or more disections, and he orally quizzes his students on 2 of them (frog and fetal pig). There's a lot of memorization involved for this class. For example, you must memorize the phylum, kingdom, class, order, etc. As for the final, you have to be able to name the phylum, class, or order, when given a picture of an animal.

Eh... he's okay but I wouldn't ever want to take his classes again

Mr. Bucher is an alright teacher however his teaching style can use a huge improvement. His lectures can sometimes be interesting, especially when he gives examples of strange animals or strange behavior of animals, however most of the time it's boring and a lot of people fall asleep. Furthermore, his tests seem to be about 5% of lecture material with the other 95% on reading you do on your own. The labs are boring until you get to the dissections, although a lot of people complain about the smell. His people skills could use some improvement, he has in a few occassions seemed inconsiderate of his students. It doesn't make him a bad teacher, just not one that students get along well with. This class is just plain hard because of the memorization but I feel that as a teacher Mr. Bucher could do a better job making the class more interesting and enjoyable for us. Instead we must learn ALL the phylums from Cephalaspidomorphi to the good ol' Primates like us.(yes the first one is a real one) So if you have trouble with memorization like I do, stack up on flash cards cuz you're not gonna get a whole lot of help from Mr. Bucher. This is primarily a self-taught class and Bucher just kinda fills in a few blanks and hands out tests.
