DEFINITELY, the BEST and the EASIEST math teacher at CSM.

THE BEST MATH TEACHER OF ALL TIME AT CSM! I had him for MATH130, MATH251, MATH253, and MATH275! In which I got all A's except for MATH251. =( But I think that was because I took the class in summer and I never studied. HAHA! So, comeon, without studying and getting a B during summer. That's good right?! I think his classes are easy though. It's like you don't even really need to do your homework because homework is extra credit! But you might want to do it, or else you won't learn. And if you turn it in, you get extra credit! Basically though, all you ahve to do is ace the tests! He gives frequent quizzes, but check this, he drops the lowest ONE THIRD! That means if you have like 21 quizzes, he drops like 7 of them. For testing, he gives you like 4 exams, in which he drops one lowest. AND HE CURVES EVERYTHING! =) And the day before the test, he tells you generally what is going to be on the test. You can also learn from the mistakes you make on the quizzes, so you won't make them during the test! And study the sections he tells you that is going to be on the exam! So, you should get like A no problem! And for his lecture, he goes too descriptive sometimes, and you might get lost. But don't worry, I usually don't pay attention though! ahha, cuz everything is in the book anyway. So, yeah take this TEACHER!

Recommended math instructor

his tests are similar to his quizzes, so attend all of his classes and do all of the hw assigned. he only cares u r attending the class "physically." so u can do whatever u want back there in the classroom. but u certainly need to do the hw. he cannot remember his students' name. little humor, yes, but very little. by the way, class materials are well presented. i was taking his math 253 in spring '98 and my gf took his math 130 in the fall'99, since my gf didn't study for her final, i actually went to take the final for her, and the best thing was Davis even didn't notice that~~!

A very nice teacher

Mr. Davis is a very nice teacher, as well as a person. He explains concepts clearly, and makes them easy to understand. He oftens gives quizzes to prepare for exams. He is a always there to help out his students. I was out of school for a month, not only that he didn't drop me, but he allowed me to make up all my works and exams without penalties. He also tries to add everyone who wants to take his class. I highly recommend this teahcer. He's one of the best teachers I've ever had.

Best Math intsructor at CSM

Of all the math teachers I had taken at csm, Davis is my favourite. His exams are primarily based on homeworks. He also gives out 2-3 quizzes before each exam to help u prepare. Homeworks are not due the next day, you can turn it in anytime you want. His lecture is also very straightforward. He explains them very clearly, and give many examples. He also adds a little humour to some of his lectures. I highly recommend taking him.

cool teacher

(Same coments as in Math 252) Graduated from Harvard and Stanford, I think Davis is the smartest math teacher at CSM. I knows how to do problems very quick from the top of his head. You may cheat in his class, and he does nothing about it. If one is getting a C for the class, you may beg him to give you a B. Anyway, his quizzes are sometimes hard b/c he gives tricky problems. Overall the semester, he gives about 16-17 quizzes and drops the lowest third. There are 5 exams, and he curves them too!

If you want to learn, take someone else

Mr. Davis is an okay teacher. If you are good at learning on your own, then you might like this class. If you sit in the back of the room, you can cheat with all the little "university rejects"(young kids that couldn't get into any college). He is totally clueless towards cheating, and doesn't even try to address this issue. I am taking Mr. Morris at skyline and he is VERY good.

I recommend him highly

Mr. Davis is an excellent math teacher. He explained concepts well and was receptive to questions from the students. The amount of homework was significant but manageable and probably necessary to really grasp the math. Mr. Davis has a pleasant personality, and while mostly sticking with the subject at hand, he did occasionally infuse a little humor into his lectures, which was nice.
