Spoke a lot about her personal issues in class. Was not available during office hours as required. I complained to the English dept. and was informed that there have been other complaints. I'd recommend other English teachers at CSM, who behaved far more professionally.

If you are a girl or a kiss up, take her. She loves girl and she hates guys, mainly due to her husband leaving her for another woman on Christmas day (she say this out loud in class) Even thought she is sorta boring, class was okay because right after you write an essay, she takes like two weeks off for conferences..so no class for two weeks. For my final essay, I wrote about the suppression of women in a man's society =) and I got an A and she totally kept saying she agress with me and loved my essay..She also likes people who kiss up to her. So if you are a girl or a kiss up, definitely take this class...

If you are a girl...take Reynolds class. She is very sexist because her husband left her for another woman on Christmas (she told the whole class!)...she doesnt like guys and I would suggest (if your taking her now) to write about hating on men. You will get a 10 (thats an A on her scale) and she will say "I agree with that" in your meetings with her.
In class, she tends to talk about herself ALOT! Very boring and now I understand why shes that way she is.

I had Ms. Reynolds for English 110, and to tell you the truth, she's actually a really good teacher. She knows what she's doing and gives studens the freedom to write what they want to write about, instead of holding them down to a specific subject. I actually enjoyed her class and actually improved on my writing!

I had Roberta for Critical Thinking and a few semesters of Creative Writing and I found her a thoughtful and provocative teacher. She's very popular, just look at the wait lists for her classes, notably the creative writing groups. In response to the previous post regarding her handwriting, she has a disease that is like carpell tunnel, but worse. Anyone who spends any time in her classes knows this. I thought her lectures were formed in a way to get students thinking for themselves rather than putting a feedbag round their necks and telling them what to think. As for her personality, she's quirky, something I found quite refreshing as most all of my other teachers at CSM were, for the most part, total bores. In the total of four semesters that I've been in her classes, I can't think of a time she was noticably late. If you're looking for an enriching and entertaining semester I'd recommend any of her classes.

Judging from her facial expressions and sluggish body movements most of the time, Reynolds strolls UNENTHUSIASTICALLY into class 5 to 10 minutes late (but she does not mark student punctuality). There are rarely any fun or active class discussions when she sits down. She only regurgitates from the text and adds her ideas now and then. Though, her insights are sometimes interesting; some of the ideas she poses about the reading materials are thought-provoking.
Like lots of teachers who practice favoritism, Reynolds is no exception. Her biggest bias comes from the observation that she doesn't treat student papers equally. Once, she lowered my essay grade to a B+ for not having a works cited, but gave an A- to another classmate who cited improperly and lacked a works cited (I compared essays with other students). She also judges your personality (good or bad) based on your writing style and criticizes your essays not only on the content, but also on the personality she perceives of you. She'll give you a good grade (an A) on your essays only if she agrees with your arguments one-hundred percent, likes you and your essay topic, for instance, writing about theology in a literature piece--one of her favorite topics. She'll find EVERY reason to give you a non-A grade if she doesn't like your writing. She does this by exposing every weakness of your paper and never revealing any strengths. Reynolds' grading may be biased, however, her bad handwriting is definitely unbiased--every student gets it.
Reynolds' penmanship reflects her careless and unenthusiastic character. She scribbles on your essays. While reading my corrected papers, I spend most of the time wondering what she wrote rather than finding out what's wrong with the paper. I'm pretty sure she has offered a few constructive criticisms, if only we can read them.
When class is over, I don't know whether Reynolds walks out unhappily or not. She never smiles when I go to her office (at least fake the smile!), for she seems disgusted at something; who knows, perhaps disgusted at my writing style and personality.
