This prof. is really broing and corny. He doesn't check attendance so I never went. BAD IDEA. His tests come DIRECTLY from his lectures and his lectures come directly from his notes. Book: I read the chapter once and did worse then when I just went to class and listened. So go to class and listen and you'll do great.

Overall, Dr. Allen is a pretty good professor. While his lectures are not always very interesting, he is not monotone and tries to keep the class from falling asleep. He will not tolerate talking or reading of newspapers in his class, so don't bother unless you want to be embarassed like you were in middle school. He gives 5 short tests that are each worth 10% of your grade, and one final which is worth 50% of your grade. The small tests are about 25 multiple choice questions each, and the final includes about 60 or so questions. While the tests are never very hard, having a final worth 50% of your grade can be kind of scary! He offers 5 to 7 points of multiple choice which are added on to the final, and those are definitely a big help. If you decide to take this class, just make sure you don't skimp on studying for the final. His final had 20 questions pertaining to overall theories that we learned in the class and 40 questions on material we learned after our last short test.

This was the weirdest class i have had. the tests were not too hard if you went to class and took notes. make sure you write down everything he says. he thinks he is funny, but actually just boring. the final is worth 50 % and was VERY hard! not to scare you too much, but you have to study a lot for it to do well. he asked 20 questions on what was whose theory and i was just like what?? anyways, i heard his wife is worse so i guess take him over her, but if there is someone else, take them.

Professor Allen sucked!! His sarcasim is so unnecessary and his lecture is awful. He speaks in a monotone voice during the entire lecture and can never answer a question directly. He does post notes on blackboard but unless you go to class to add to the outline, you will be clueless when it comes to the 5 test he gives throughout the semester. Yes, 5 test, one about every week and a half. He reminds me of the man on the "Clear Eyes" commercial. If possible I recommend taking someone else, otherwise be ready to attend every lecture so you won't be clueless!!

Dr. Allen is a great teacher in lecture.. he has an extremely dry and witty sense of humor, and his class is not hard to pay attention to. His tests are of average difficulty, but the final sucks because it is cumulative and worth 50% of your grade. I give Dr. Allen an A-, and recommend the class.

Dr. Allen is a generally great teacher. His lecture are easy to follow, and his dry sarcasm is entertaining in what could potentially be a dull subject for most people. The only homework consists of the occasional assignment from Sniffy the virtual rat, which is the most entertaining homework I've had in a long time. The quizzes and short answer part of tests are based directly on the outlines, which he follows directly in lecture, so it is hard not to do well on this if you study enough. The multiple choice parts of tests are applications, which can be a little challenging, but generally the class wasn't overly difficult. If you put the time in, you'll be fine. I wish the class had been smaller, though, because I think he could have really developed the material if given the opportunity.
