Dr. Benitez-Nelson is a wonderful professor! She has a great personality and she makes class fun. She also makes every effort to help you do well in the class. Every exam is curved (even the final),and most of the questions come off the practice quizzes on the textbook website. The homework is difficult and the labs are long and boring, but her lectures keep you awake and help you learn. If you have a chance to take her, you should definetely go for it!

Dr. Benitez-Nelson is a great professor. She is very energetic and encourages her students to participate in class and she won't make you feel like an idiot if you answer something wrong. I really and truly looked forward to going to her class. In our class, her tests were a combination of multiple choice and short answer, nothing too hard. Homework was a little time comsuming and labs weren't that bad. If you have the opportunity to take her, do. You won't regret it.

This is a great intro course for marine science. You can tell that she really enjoys teaching and will do everything possible to make sure that you learn the material. Her homework is a little tough. Her lectures are very interesting though. Her tests come off of the books website www.brookscole.com (tutorial quiz). Our class got the next day to work in groups and she took the average and upped our grades. There is a field trip to the beach and its pretty fun. I would recommend her to any intro student.
