The best place to find the best professors

Guidelines for Posting Reviews

Our "legal department" decided it would be important for us to show you this.  They recommend that you read and agree with it before posting any reviews.  This page is subject to change.

CourseReviews is an open conduit for posting reviews.  We do not read reviews before they are posted on the site.  You, the reviewer, are solely responsible for the content of your reviews.

Now if you happen to be in, lets say, an altered state of mind because you are, how should we put it... drunk... or any other of the multitude of altered states, from an all nighter, or whatever... we recommend that you post your review in our Just for Testing University.  Use that school for having fun with the system.

Here's our simple guidelines:

  1. Don't ever accuse the professor of anything that you couldn't or wouldn't want to prove.  Example:  "She's gay and plays in the marching band."  If your teacher doesn't play in the marching band, then don't say that she does.   Oh yeah - and don't say that she's gay!  Even if she is gay, this is NOT the place to post that information.

  2. Don't post threats on this web site, even jokingly.

  3. Be honest!  This basically goes without saying, but we feel we should say anyways.  This site is for helping students.  If your intent is to confuse students or damage a professor’s reputation, go somewhere else.

  4. Your professors read this site too.  Many professors enjoy reading this site because it helps them become better teachers.  That's what we want, right? So try to be informative and clear.

  5. We require your real email address.  After you submit your first review, the system will automatically email you a verification key.   You have to type in this key before your review will be visible by everybody else.  Why?  This helps keep the integrity of the reviews at a high level.  If we didn't do this, professors could be reviewing themselves or students could be posting dozens of bogus reviews.  We don't want that.  We will not abuse your email address by sending you spam. (See the privacy page for more information.)

  6. CourseReviews has the right to hide reviews.  This isn't censorship or The Man tryin' to hold ya back - it's because we feel the review broke one of these rules.  You want to be able to trust the reviews on the site, right?  You aren't in trouble or anything we take your review down, but if we take too many of your reviews down, we may ban you from the system, and that would suck.

  7. CourseReviews WILL NOT modify the text or grades of your reviews.  This means no one besides you will modify your reviews.

And if you don't want to follow the rules, have fun posting bogus reviews at the Just for Testing University.
