A very clear, friendly, and knowledgable professor. Dr. Weil's lectures are explained and written on the board very clearly and comprehensively. She takes as many questions as time permits to clarify ideas. Thorough note-taking is essential to doing well; nearly all homework, quizzes, and exams are based on lectures.
The book is needed only for its glossary in the back in order to define the vocabulary words on the homework; otherwise, its explanations are overly complex and do not match Dr. Weil's style and approach to Astronomy.
She even sets aside an entire session on the last day of instruction to discuss the possibility of alien life throughout our universe. Math-phobic? Don't worry: she tries to include as little math as possible in the course. She even shows you some neat shortcuts, mnemonic devices, and tips to handling fractions and memorizing lists and concepts.
She can handle any Astronomy-related question you can throw at her, makes everything clear and simple to understand, is there for you outside of class to help, and is there solely to help you succeed in your academic pursuits. She even informed us that she would happily write a recommendation letter for any student applying for a job and/or transferring to a university.
In a word: awesome. And as Dr. Weil would say, thumbs up and "for sursies."
