Good teacher

I feel Felix is a hard but fair teacher. His lectures kept me interested for the entire lecture, which was usually three hours, and he explained each problem clearly. His exams were quite hard but he made sure that there were no suprises. As for his marking he doesn't give you much slack but you must realize that this is a finnance class and when it comes to dealing with other peoples money later on in life, you can't have even the smallest error.

Not the right teacher!

He does not know what he is talking about and he will never remember your name. He does not know much about Visual basic programming as he always tell us "There's a bug in the program somewhere", or "I mean you have to figure the problem out".

He does not know what he has on his exercises on the web as he copied all the exercises from Richard Chechik. Overall, he doesn't know much about computers so my suggestion is that he souldn't be teaching this course.

A waste of time

Felix is a pretty nice guy although somewhat antiquated. For example he persists at referring to workers as men, I guess in Felix' world women don't work? His lectures are confusing and cover the work far too superficially: we need much more depth and repetition to understand material of this complexity. The labs are very difficult and complicated, and often glossed over in class if covered at all. Felix is an extremely harsh and inconsistent marker. I got marks anywhere from 70 to 100 on labs although the quality of work I did was consistent. Other students worked together on labs and handed in virtually identical labs and got marks 30% different from one another. He plays favourites. We only had one exam and having never had a midterm we were really stressed at trying to prepare for it. With the highest mark of only 83 I question whether it was a fair exam. I don't feel like the work was really relevant to our program: I mean really building financial models in excel and writing VBA code is interesting but in a MATH course? VBA belongs in 157 and excel belongs in the business department. Felix had absolutely no concept of the work load we were dealing with in our other courses or the focus of our program. I would not recommend taking this course and really question why it is even offered.
