Fights for the Students

Dr. Dixon is a good, solid professor. He gives homework and projects which relate to real world applications. In some cases it feels he bites off a little more than he can chew, but his priority is always student understanding.

He puts in the time and effort to make sure that students know exactly what they need. His door is always open, and he is always up for a conversation.

Some will say that he assigns too much, others will say that he is a stickler for grades. The homework in all my classes were only 10% of the grade, and he was pretty good about giving chances to make it up. The amount of work is a lot, because he realizes that not everyone learns the same way. So in lieu of this, he tackles the same methodology from multple approaches to make sure everyone is able to understand the material.

He does sometimes get lost on tangents in his lectures, and doesn't always have the perfect example and wording for the occaision, but then again, who does?

In a system filled with tenured professors who are more concerned about their research than student understanding, Dr. Dixon is making sure the students are the priority.
