15 years later he still captivates me
I took one semester of poetry with Speakes back in the late 80's? Early 90's? Who can remember. He was the only English teacher I ever had that could praise without indulging, challenge without patronizing. To this day I search out his own (very rare, hard to find) writings.
And he isn't crazy in the least.
