She's the best!

I beg to disagree with one of the comments that she makes you feel stupid when you ask questions because she is the last person to make you feel one. She is the most considerate person I have ever had. She is just the best!

SO-SO teacher

I read everybody else's comments and could see how they felt that way. It's true she's not like other math teachers. She does bring a level of humor into the classroom. However, I also thinks she bias. When grading tests she'll take 3 points off one person's paper when another person did he exact same thing and only get a warning or minus one point. She is constantly doing those things throughout the semester. If you ask a question sometimes she'll answer it back sassy, which embarrasses you and makes you feel like you're in high school again.

Emily is the best!!

Emily is such a great teacher. She's nice, really funny, and makes class real enjoyable. I actually look forward to coming to class, and I'm the type that hates math with a passion. I don't get math whatsoever, but she was always their to help me. She always taught till you knew how to do the problem. While she was teaching she would always joke around making the class environment really comfortable. I always tell others to take her class. I think she's the type of teacher that everybody wants. If you decide to take her class, you won't regret it. You'll probably take for more than one math class. I did. I had her for Math 24 and Math 100 and I enjoyed both classes. I also had Mrs. Akana (Math 25) and Mrs. Fujishima-Lee (Math 27), but they don't even compare to Emily. I have never gotten an "A" in math since the ninth grade.

She is a very good math teacher

I have finally found a math teacher that I could understand and "get" what they were trying to teach me, since my 11th grade Geometry teacher. ( And I;m know spring chicken) She help my transition back into math a good one. The only thing that I think she could lighten up on is how many little pts. she takes off for mistakes, like not putting an = sign or forgetting to do a check when necessarily not required. But I understand the madness behind it, because in math you can't make mistakes like that, or it will effect the outcome of the problem, it can be misunderstood........ If you want to learn math but also learn about perfection in some since then I do highly recommend that you take her..

A++++ Teacher

I have had Emily as an instructor for two different classes, Math 24 and Math 100. I have enjoyed taking her class. She makes the subject so interesting and she makes me want to learn more about math. I have had other teachers but she has to be the best ever. She also takes time to help you if you need the extra help. One thing that I would recommend to student who take her is, before you step into her doors be sure to turn off your pagers and cell phones. :)

A Fun Person to Learn Math with!

I did enjoy math so much with Emily! I had been so afraid to take any math, but learning from her took away the fear and has helped me to feel less anxious about moving on. I have learned that math can be fun and mathmaticians are anything but boring! I would recommend Emily to anyone!

MY BEST TEACHER EVER!

Emily Uribe is by far one of the best teachers I have ever had. I’ve had teachers that knew a lot about their subject, but couldn’t get through to the students. I have also had teachers who were very social and were able to communicate with the students on a more personal level, but they were unable to fulfill the class requirements, leaving the students behind in their studies. Uribe was able to capture both sides of the teaching system. She is an excellent communicator and scholar if I may add. She is able to teach students who, by the way may be completely confused when it comes to math, students like myself. But, she doesn’t just teach them the material, she explains it in a way that the students can visualize the problem and solve it, when normally, they would have no clue as to where to begin. At the same time, she is able to make the class fun and interesting, making jokes with the class every so often and making the classroom setting a relaxing and comfortable place to learn. Uribe is one of those teachers who really cares about her students rather than her paycheck or the school for instance. She would give up her free time to help a student with a problem. She’s done it for me and it helped me a lot. She is actually such a great teacher, that I am taking Math100 with her next year. I don’t think I’d take the course without her.

The most fun math teacher!!

I have heard people say that she "makes learning math fun." And I believe them because it's true. She's not like any other math teachers who are always serious-looking or boring. She's funny even in class and she laughs all the time. She is very helpful to people who needs help and she's very smart. I recommend her to anyone thinking of taking Math 135 or 140 (pre-calc) at Leeward Community College.
