This lab gets your feet wet into the telecommunications program at DeVry. You are shown around the lab and see how the labs are wired and learn what a PBX is. A relatively easy 1st-time lab with several small time assignements, with a team-project for the last lab where you are given nearly 6 weeks to accomplish, in this project you build your own 66 blocks on a wooden fram and get it to work so you can send and recieve calls through it to ensure connectivity.

In this lab you learn how to use MS Project 98, a great program used for creating time scales of projects as well as the overall costs. This is a requirement for the senior project so it's important to learn.

Professor Currie is an excellent teacher to take at DeVry for telecommunications classes nad he does a very good job teaching this project management class as well. There is no homework ever, and the tests are in reality short essays responding to case studies from the text (there are 4 total). The midterm is an objective essay which is worth 25% of the grade. The final is a trimester-long project with a team which is worth 25% of the grade as well. However dry this subject might be, Currie points out the fact that there are a lot of jobs in the field that are looking for project managers.

Proffessor Currie is a great teacher to take for intro to the telecommunications major at Devry. However be warned that a lot of writing is required in his classes (all of them). Each test is in reality a research paper and there is 4 of them in this class (Divestiture of the Bell System, PSTN, LAN/WAN technology, and Careers in Telecommunications). And the midterm and final are both in essay form, and are 25% each of your overall grade. This may sound difficult, but if you are serious about learning what you will be doing in reality in your life with a teacher that will help you to understand everything and has a great personality, then Currie is an excellent choice for a teacher to take. I will take him again for future classes.
