Prepare to withdraw, but only if you are a complet retard.

While not the perfect 10 professor, I haven’t seen one of those yet, Professor Morse is pretty good. He explains things over and over until the most retarded student gets it. I simply don’t think I would have the patience to deal with some of the students he deals with. If you don’t read the book, however, you can bet you are going to some degree of difficulty storing the data in your server. You buy a book for a reason, and it’s not just to stare at the pretty cover. So if you read the book and put a decent amount of effort, you should be good to go. The spoon feeding he does can actually be annoying to some, but it’s good for those who take longer to digest some concepts. His mid term does involve writing an essay as some one mentioned. And yeah he does take points off for grammar errors but come on! You’re in college now. What do you expect? Oh and that B I got because plain and simple I did not turn in a lab and some other stuff. ;P

Prepare to Withdraw

What can I say? Some people like him... some won't... and I don't.

Professor Morse is a very strict professor that doesn't give leeway to anything. His midterm is divided into 2 parts... a take-home, and a in class test. The take-home is a 3-page essay, required to be in MLA format, with your own examples. He deducts your paper because of grammar (we're programming students, not English), but in class itself, he doesn't teach every definition-he just gives examples on how they work. He asks interactive questions... which is good... but fails to teach it to every student, just to the student he's speaking with. Oh yeah, two people cannot work together. If two people work together, and though they both work on the exact same problem and they work together to get one solution, and their labs are totally different (except for the main core), he will fail you.

He doesn't care about the effort.

I had to withdraw from his class, and he didn't ask why I dropped... he didn't even care. He is very insentive though at first he seems very nice. I was not the only person who dropped his class... at least 10 others... a fourth of his class, dropped him as well.

Good knowledge, but I wanted more

Professor Morse approaches this class with emphasis on object oriented programming. First three weeks will be crash course on HTML, then he will go into making applets, apllication. The time is limited to get everything out of one class. I enjoyed it but i thought i would liked more of Java rather than HTML. But the knowledge of HTML will enhance your skills in Java.

Programming 'Guru'

I took him for both C and advance C/C++ classes. He will keep everyone involved by asking questions pertaining to his lectures. Good memory, knows your name by the second week. Easy to approach, ask any questions, flexible and also provides software when needed. Hands out information and teaches keeping in mind the ever evolving technology. The homework is easy, test are well thought out and can give guidance to students one on one basis too.
