A disappointing egocentrist

If you are seeking a singular opinion on film theory and criticism, taken directly from a text book, you will probably enjoy Professor Deutelbaum. But for god's sake, don't disagree with the man, or question his gospel-truth-style teaching method. Some days I wondered how his ego made it through the classroom door.

There's a reason he's been at Purdue as long as he has without earning tenure, and it's due to a childishly egocentric and small-mindedly singular philosophy on criticism. Very disappointing.

Great Teacher

Prof. Deutelbaum is a remarkable professor, poet, and writing instructor. He held us to the highest standards and made us work hard to earn our grades. My other writing professor, well, was just a nice person who made us feel good, but really didn't help us with our writing. If you need a nice professor, someone who'll hold your hand, you better take someone else. Prof. Deutelbaum gives lots of feedback, quite honestly and fairly; however, be ready to be challenged. Prof. Deutelbaum made me think more carefully about my own writing.
